Lady Gaga's meat dress to be made into jerky

lady-gagaImage Credit: David Gabber/PR PhotosLady Gaga made headlines after sporting a meat dress at this year’s MTV Video Music Awards. Gaga told talk show host Ellen DeGeneres she meant no disrespect to vegans or vegetarians. “It has many interpretations — but for me, this evening, it’s that if we don’t stand up for what we believe in, if we don’t fight for our rights, pretty soon we’re gonna have as much rights as the meat on our bones. AND I am not a piece of meat.”

Okay, so Gaga didn’t entirely clear up the big question marks surrounding that evening’s fashion choice. Nor did she say anything about the future of her raw dress. Lady Gaga probably wouldn’t be caught wearing the same outfit twice, and this isn’t the sort of look that just retires to the back of your closet. (Unless, of course, your closet is some sort of meat-packing plant.)

The designer of the dress, Franc Fernandez, set the record straight when he told the MTV style blog the dress was, in fact, intended to be worn only once. But the now infamous meat garment is not headed for life in a deep freezer. Instead, “the dress will go through a process where it becomes a sort of ‘jerky’ and will be archived,” Fernandez told E!. Yum?

The thought of anyone eating Lady Gaga’s meat dress-turned-jerky grosses me out. Am I the only one? And does this mean there’s a jerky dress in our future? Let’s hope not.

Yeah, come on everybody, fight for your right to wear meat. Isn’t that right guaranteed to all citizens in the Constitution?

  • momma-n-Indy

Always somethin to guarantee her pic on the front page.

  • megan

um, yeah, that dress totally crossed a line.

  • Marissa

I’d eat jerky made from her dress :P Yum!

Is that not the lamest statement ever?

    • Lisa Simpson

      It’s pretty much up there.

    • Elvis Pudding

Did you expect anything else but a lame publicity stunt from this ugly whore?

  • Michelle

It’s a cool dress. She has a unique sense of style that most people are too afraid to be different to wear in public. At least she has the guts to be herself in glamorized, superficial Hollywood.

    • The Jackal

Be herself? Are you for real? She’s so far from being herself.

    • TJ

If wearing a load of meat is “being herself”… she has some huge problems. This dress (if that’s what were calling it) IS superficial and hollywood. You wouldn’t see a high school prom queen wearing this as a statement and getting kudos.

Are you not the lamest person ever?

It kind of makes me gag every time I see it, because all I can think about is the smell.

  • realworld

That would be diseased with madcow after that skank put it on. She has as much taste as talent. ZERO!!

    • Scott

You talk about taste but your username is “Real World,” one of the tasteless television programs of all time. Get a clue

      • Hannah

Excuse me, Mr. Scott? Are you just gonna sit there and be a d!ck to anyone who posts something you don’t like?
If you admire GaGa’s dress so much, why don’t you get off your ass and go model one yourself. You might find a butt buddy who likes meat dresses and Lady Gaga as much as you do!
        Best wishes.

You stupid people say she has guts to be herself. She herself was no doubt the homely unpopular girl in school. Now shes just the homely popular girl because of a**holes like you. Same as Marilyn pussya** Manson. No talent so lets be a freak.

    • Uica

Since when does being homely have anything to do with whether or not you are yourself? I personally think she’s a gorgeous woman but even if you don’t think so that shouldn’t make or break the rest of your opinion of her. And, if you don’t like her music then say you don’t like it, but don’t say she doesn’t have talent just because it’s not your style.

  • twish

    recycle!!!

  • val

    Totally disgusting!

Lol, she’s an entertainer not a high school prom queen. If people would lighten up and not take everything so seriously they could enjoy the music, the fashion, and the entertainment showmanship of it all. It is a show, it is shocking, it is gross, it is interesting, and weird. And I enjoy it.

      • TJ

It also gives me something to rag on at 4pm on a work day. So I guess I can credit her for that.

      • ‘k

But, Dave, she herself is pretending to make some sort of terribly profound statement with this. I’m thinking she needs to lighten up.

      • Marissa

        I like it too.

    • Elvis Pudding

Please stop talking about her, buying her so-called music, and paying attention to her and she will go back to wannabe celebrityland where she belongs.

  • dave

I think the dress is awesome and she’s awesome.

    • Michelle

      :D

  • Silent Rage

I don’t care for the lady’s music or her views, but I do know she looks sexy as hell in that picture, meat or no meat.

    • Ethan

Ya know, I really agree. I not only think the entire act of wearing the dress was fascinating, I think she does actually look quite beautiful in it – something you can’t always say about her. In a way, that was the whole purpose – to juxtapose something as discomfiting as the meat with her looking beautiful with hair and accessories around it.
