I have two daughters under six. I’m going to end up seeing this movie. They loved the Princess and the Frog. I’m sorry that movie didn’t make more money.
That was great I actually want to see this in November
Adding my own thoughts to the debate on the lack of Alan Menken’s music in the trailer: I noticed something similar with the ‘Sweeney Todd’ trailers, with the end result being that a lot of people in the audience spent the first 10 mins of the movie muttering, “Are they gonna keep singing?” or, “This is a musical…?” The difference here is, of course, that Disney movies have a history of being Musicals.
My main theories for the lack of Menken are: 1) Keeping the songs a mystery or 2) Not putting off the boys…? Not a great idea, that, as they will then be put-off at the cinema.
By the by, I’m getting a much better vibe from this one than I did with PatF. Might still be proven wrong come 24 November, but it just feels right somehow.
Also, as far as the trailers are concerned, I’m a bit surprised at people’s reactions. Disney has a history of releasing several trailers, with the main ones being the Action Trailer (for boys), Drama / Romance Trailer (for girls) and Funny Trailer (for little kids). All of them followed by the good ole “Two thumbs up, says Such and Such a Critic!” trailer once the movie’s actually playing [and come to think of it, I haven't many of these lately].
I was skeptical after the first trailer, but the second trailer really sold me. I can’t remember the last time I was this excited for a Disney movie.
