Zach Galifianakis wants to shoot 'Hangover' sequel in Moscow

Zach-Galifianakis_l.jpg Image Credit: Frank Masi When EW sat down this afternoon with Hangover star Zach Galifianakis, who’s hard at work plugging his new movie It’s Kind of a Funny Story at the Toronto Film Festival, we couldn’t help but ask about the top secret location of the upcoming sequel to his megahit Sin City-set comedy. Galifianakis won’t say which spots the filmmakers are considering (“It keeps changing, actually,” he says), but he was happy to dish on his own dream location.

“I think Russia would be amazing,” he says. “The first Hangover worked because it was Vegas, but it was the dirty side of Vegas, not the glitzy one. You’ve got to put the characters against danger. So they could get involved in organized crime in Moscow, which I think is incredibly scary.”

Before you start picturing Phil, Stu, and Alan in fur hats, Galifianakis has one last hint to drop: “Where it is going to take place is beautiful,” he says. “They probably will show the dirty part of the beauty. I think that’s the goal.”

What do you think of Galifianakis’ idea, PopWatchers? And where would you set the movie if you had the choice?

If he does Moscow, he’s gotta put a stray dog bit in there.

I read a while back that the sequel will be in Thailand. Expect drug and hooker jokes galore…

That turned out to be a rumor though.

Can this guy please shave and lose some weight.

Seth Rogen did that, it kinda hasn’t worked out since for him.

…I love him just like that…

I agree. Remember him on Late World ? He looked much cuter.

I think Hawaii would be a good choice.

I heard they’re shooting in Thailand in October and November. By coincidence, *I* will be in Thailand in October and November as well… ;-)

I think they should just leave it alone. The first one worked (even though it wasn’t THAT funny) but a sequel would most likely be disastrous. Look at Harold & Kumar 2. Unexpected hit comedies should just stay a movie of it’s own.

    Tijuana would be good.

I don’t care if I sound unoriginal but I say go back to Vegas.

    • Ryan O’Brien

Yeah I say go back to Vegas and don’t lose Justin Bartha for 94 percent of the film. The plot could be they go back to try and have a non disaster weekend and it doesn’t go as planned

This film is supposed to come out in May of next year and they haven’t even picked the location? Do they even have a script? The first one wasn’t even that good (or funny), but it worked enough 0n its own, is this sequel necessary?

    Sydney Australia

Yeah…a sequel to this movie is such a stupid idea. They all get accidentally drugged A SECOND TIME!? I’m very skeptical. This wolf pack may need to run to the hills.
