Viggo Mortenson as Roland sounds almost too perfect for words. (Those wishing for Eastwood, yes, he was King’s original inspiration for the character, but he’s too old now.)
My big concern, who’s going to play Randall Flagg? Wouldn’t mind it if they got Jamey Sheridan (who played flag in the adaptation of “The Stand”) to do it again.
BINGO! Jamey Sheridan reprising Flagg is the best idea I’ve heard all day! Maybe Tom Hanks as the Crimson King???

I have only read THE STAND. I love how Steven King paints pictures with words ( for me anyway ) BUT he scares the *(&%$$&(* out of me. The Stand is the ONLY SCARY MOVIE I have really ever watched and it’s the only scary book I have ever read. Can’t do scary.
I saw COCOON with Ron Howard directing and LOVED IT. Went to see the sequel and said what the &*&%%& is this crap, then the credits came up and Ron Howard didn’t direct that episode. That explained the whole movie for me.
As much as I REALLY CAN’T HANDLE SCARY, if its Ron Howard and Steven King, I will be there.
I’ll just pay for it later. The Stand, which I haven’t seen or read in at least 10 years, still pops into my mind, a lot more then I want it to.
Probably because I know it really could happen. At least the plaque.
In the past the made for TV movies and even the full length movies tended to reuse actors for the cast. Which I love.

Those are great choices with the exception of Pinkett Smith. She’s too old to be Detta/Odetta IMO. Someone on another article suggested Taraji Henson, that might be good.

So obvious. Hugh Jackman is the only one who can play Roland. SO obvious.
No Hugh Jackman! Hes too soft. A ballet dancer for petes sake. His Wolverine is a caricature. Of a comic book character. And hes far too short. Only an unknown can pull Roland off. Picking from a list a celebrities will cheapen this film.

Eddie- Jason Lee
Susanna/Odetta- Lauryn Hill or Angela Bassett is good
Jake- some unknown little actor…it’ll probably be Justin Beiber acting 10yrs. old
They should at least take it to FX or something…NBC wont do justice I fear….
