Image Credit: Jeffrey Mayer/WireImage.comWe’ll soon be seeing a lot more of Christina Hendricks — and, even if that prospect doesn’t send your mind straight into the gutter, it’s bound to be a good thing, right? Hot off her recent Emmy nomination, the va-va-voomy Mad Men star has a growing pile of big-screen projects coming down the pike, starting with next month’s Katherine Heigl-Josh Duhamel romantic comedy Life as We Know It — and now Variety reports she’ll be joining Ryan Gosling and Carey Mulligan in a crime thriller called Drive. Hendricks also has two other film dramas in the works: Leonie, with Emily Mortimer, which recently wrapped, and Detachment, in which she’ll star opposite Adrien Brody, James Caan, and Lucy Liu. In a New York Post article earlier this year, Hendricks spoke of her desire to do a big Hollywood action movie, the sort of movie “where I had to learn kung fu for three months” — a comment that prompted a wave of blogosphere fantasies about Hendricks becoming Hollywood’s next gun-toting female action star, like Angelina Jolie, or perhaps even taking on the role of Wonder Woman. Interestingly enough, the director of Drive, Nicolas Winding Refn, stirred up fanboy intrigue earlier this summer when he told an interviewer he desperately wants to make a Wonder Woman movie. Coincidence? Hm.
Hendricks is undeniably great on Mad Men, and her status as a sex symbol is secure. (When you Google her name, the first two search terms that automatically pop up are “measurements” and “cup size.”) But do you think she has what it takes to make it in movies? Are you excited to see Hendricks step outside the world of Mad Men — and perhaps climb inside an invisible jet?

I have nothing to comment about this post. I just wanted to be the first person in history to beat Mr. Holloway in commenting about a Christina Hendricks story.
My work here is done.
HA! Hey, Christina Hendricks causes people to do some crazy things.
Oh, and I refuse to see that Heigl flick because Christina dies in it.
Thanks. I didn’t know that. Is before the movie comes out still ok to request a spoiler alert?
Way to live up to your name.
Never mind those buffoons, Mr. Holloway. Your loyalty WILL be rewarded.
Please forgive me, Ms. Hendricks. You cause people to do some crazy things.
You mean MRS. Hendricks
She is a married woman, which is a sad truth I also refuse to accept.
This woman is so beautiful it makes me sick. Even if Drive ends up being the worst thing ever, I will still love it because of that cast.
This woman is criminally beautiful from head to toe. I’ll watch anything with her in it. (I think she’s talented but I can’t tell.)
forget head to toe, you just need neck to hips on this one.
Seriously? How old are you?
OMG, she’d be a BRILLIANT Wonder Woman!
Oooh, she totally would!!
And what about that “Gilligan’s Island” remake, where Christina being cast as Ginger was an absolute deal-breaker? No Christina, no audience.
She needs to play Wonder Woman and Boudica like, NOW.
Wow!! She would be perfect as Wonder Woman. PERFECT!!! Someone needs to get on this now.
Wow. No mention of the fact that Bryan Cranston rounds out the cast? I don’t understand how this is bigger news than when he joined the cast, and I ama big Hendricks fan, being a man and all…
I love Christina Hendricks and I love her beautiful figure…my ONLY problem with her as Wonder Woman is that WW is really, really well muscled. I mean, the bust is spot on (aren’t all comic book women drawn super busty?) but I always take WW a little more seriously than certain other lady heroes because she actually looks like she’s got the muscle to kick the crap out of someone. I in no way think Christina Hendricks needs to get more muscle in general (again, I think she’s GORGEOUS), but that’s because she’s not an Amazon/superhero. I would hope that whoever plays Wonder Woman shoots for Hillary-Swank-in-Million-Dollar-Baby type muscle. But that’s just me.
Wasn’t Nathan Fillion in a short-lived TV series on Fox named Drive? My brown-coated brain is spinning. Serenity now!
Yes, he was. Only 3 or 4 episodes were aired, as I remember.
Interestingly, Christina also starred alongside him in 2 episodes of his great sci-fi series, Firefly!
My point exactly.
She’s a terrific actress. Her work on Firefly is more then enough evidence that she can handle action. The question is whether they’ll write her a part that will be more than just her prancing around looking cute and kickin ass.
Christina Hendricks is like the living version of Jessica Rabbit, who happens to be the cartoon character I most fantasize about.
She is a wonderful actress. And she is beautiful. I wish the attention paid to her would happen in that order. She is much more than beautiful.
All I can think of are the super TV actresses who end up in disappointing parts outside the series that made them big. Tricia Helfer comes to mind. That woman needs better parts sent to her.
Anything with Hendricks in something invisible I will watch.
