After leaving fans and industry folk alike wondering for weeks months, O’Brien revealed in a YouTube video released this morning that the name of his program will be Conan. Or Conaw? Doesn’t matter — you choose. It’s cable — anything goes!
So it looks like O’Brien’s keeping it simple. But, then again, Conan slips off the tongue much better than The Masturbating Happy Bear Hour. (Because you know we’ll be picketing if the character doesn’t make it onto O’Brien’s new show…screw any legal rules barring Conan from bring along his Late Night characters!) I just hope TBS is smart and puts full episodes of the show on its website. Some of us either don’t have cable or, in my case, don’t have a TV.
TV Guide reported a couple of months back that they will indeed post full episodes on TeamCoco.com

@Jason: Actually Conan was the one who started the whole mess by refusing to resign with NBC for his Late Night Show unless they guaranteed him the Tonight Show within a few years. What exactly did Conan think would happen to Leno? He knew he would be forcing him out but he didn’t care. So yes, he is a backstabber.
I don’t get why everybody is saying Conan strongarmed Leno out of the Tonight Show.
2005 – Conan was getting some pretty lucrative offers from other networks like Fox to host a late night program on their network. Conan, being loyal to NBC, decides to do the thing EVERYBODY else would do and told NBC that he was getting lucrative offers from other networks that he was seriously considering, and if NBC didn’t give him any incentive to stay (like the Tonight Show – remember, Conan’s been working on Late Night for at least 10+ years now), he would go to another network. NBC then reacted by promising Conan the Tonight Show in five years.
Heck, Leno was even initially fine with the decision until last year when his ratings were still #1 (unlike what NBC had told him in 2005 – they told him his ratings would drop at that time and that’s why a new host would’ve been ideal)
So I don’t see the backstabbing here. If you’re going to blame anyone for starting this whole mess, blame the right company. *coughNBCcough*

conan received very lucrative offers at other networks (fox included), but out of loyalty to NBC and the franchise, he went to the bigheads up at GE to essentially say, “I want to stay here but it makes more financial/creative sense to go with these other guys.” how can we fault him for wanting to advance his career? especially when Leno himself agreed to such a change?
OK I’m at work and I have no sound on my computer, but I watched the video for fun and it’s HILARIOUS not being able to hear what he’s actually saying. Team Coco for life!
