Confession: I have a Snuggie. My grandmother, known for shelling out money for all kinds of ridiculous infomercial products, sent me two Snuggies (with the accompanying book light) when I was in college. And, of course, I used them with pride. I really thought I had reached full Snuggie potential. But all that changed in 30 seconds when I saw the newest commercial for the blanket with sleeves: READ FULL STORY »

'127 Hours' trailer: A Danny Boyle Joint
When did Danny Boyle become a brand? James Franco is the undeniable star of 127 Hours, the courageous story of injured adrenaline junkie Aron Ralston, but the new trailer for the film (embedded below) leads with the Oscar-winning director of Slumdog Millionaire. “Danny Boyle has taken us places we’ve never seen,” is splashed across the opening shots, followed by cuts of Slumdog, 28 Days Later, and Millions. Franco takes over from there, racing his bike through the desolate southwest, rescuing Kate Mara and Amber Tamblyn and showing them a good time, and ultimately slipping into a horrific, life-threatening trap that will last, yes, 127 hours. Call it Into the Wild with a happier ending. READ FULL STORY »
Ricky Gervais sends 'An Idiot Abroad': Funnier on paper than in its trailer?
Conceptually, there’s no way An Idiot Abroad should fail: Ricky Gervais sends his podcast buddy/world-class dolt Karl Pilkington out into the world to face foreign customs and situations that make him feel skittish. Hilarity ensues. It’s just that the trailer for the show, which will premiere on Britain’s Sky-1 next month, is perhaps a tad less funny than Gervais’ uproarious laughter would indicate. I’d rather they had cut some “Brit in goofy hat” shots and given us a few more of Pilkington’s obtuse observations (i.e. comparing the Egyptian pyramids to “a game of Jenga that’s got out of hand”). But maybe you’ll disagree. Check out the preview below and let me know if you, too, wish you’d gotten a few more laughs from your first look at An Idiot Abroad, or if I’m just an idiot on a blog. (Quite possible!) READ FULL STORY »
Sandra Bullock to talk about New Orleans on 'Today'
Image Credit: Jeffrey Mayer/WireImage.comSandra Bullock will talk to Matt Lauer on Tuesday morning’s Today Show. Lauer will visit the actress in New Orleans, where she has been living with her son, Louis.
Bullock’s giving the interview for the best of reasons: to help to publicize New Orlean’s Warren Easton Charter High School. She and a school board member will talk about a new on-campus health clinic, which Bullock helped fund.

Elin Nordegren gives first (and possibly last) interview to People
Her divorce final from superstar golfer Tiger Woods, Elin Nordegren gave her first — and she claims, her last — interview to People magazine, saying in this week’s cover story that “my main focus is to try to give myself time to heal.” The 30-year-old mother of two sat with the magazine for 19 hours, reflecting on the painful ordeal of the last nine months, when Woods’ numerous infidelities became public, while taking a positive attitude towards her future. “I also feel stronger than I ever have. I have confidence in my beliefs, my decisions and myself.”
Will this be People‘s best-selling issue of the year? Could you hear Katie Couric and Diane Sawyer’s hearts fracture when they read this will be Nordegren’s only interview?
UPDATE: Tiger Woods spoke out about Nordegren and the People cover during a press conference at The Barclays golf tournament, the magazine reports. “I wish her the best in everything,” Woods said. “It’s a sad time in our lives. And we’re looking forward to how we can help our kids the best way we possibly can. And that’s the most important thing.”
Fantasia's 'Behind the Music': Will she rise above the drama?
Image Credit: VH1I’ll be honest: I probably wouldn’t have watched last night’s Behind the Music episode had it not been for Fantasia’s intense personal struggles the past few weeks. As a casual fan of the singer — I’ve never read Fantasia’s autobiography about her rise from rags to riches or watched her VH1 reality series, though I do enjoy her music — I was partly interested to hear about her troubled past (which was as heartbreaking as I had expected), but I had mostly tuned in to hear her talk about her Aug. 9 suicide attempt. The special, which was completed earlier this month before the singer’s public troubles, had been updated to include a new interview.
As it turns out, if you watched the singer’s appearance on Good Morning America, there wasn’t much new information on last night’s one-hour special. She reiterated that leading up to her hospitalization, she had been struggling to cope with the media attention surrounding her relationship with a married man and she also spoke about the mounting pressure of dealing with supporting her family. But the special did provide some perspective.

I know you’ve been waiting all day for the third Dating in the Dark photo recap. It’s become the highlight of your Tuesday, practically the only reason it’s worth getting out of bed in the morning in this cruel world that wants single people to — ewwww — look at each other. Vision if you’ve got it! That is what the world says. Well, sadly it’s getting late and I’m not going to post an exhaustive recap. You can blame
