Haterade,Haterade. The hate that begot hate begot more hate. Shallow and vacuous perhaps. All things considered the A-list is a highly entertaining show about some gays that look good, do well?, and have a lot of very petty and highly entertaining drama on a tv show. A gay tv show on a gay tv network might I add! Twenty years or hell ten years ago something like this wasn’t possible. I for one laud the damn queens for letting the cameras in their life and opening their lives up to queens to judge them. Be a little nicer people, please!
Back to the comment about race not being an issue… I would love to live in a world where race doesn’t play a factor in jobs, salaries, education, structures of opportunity – or in this case, a reality show – but it does. I think the issue in the A-List is that queers of color are not adequately portrayed in the television show.
The cast members portray a very slim section of gays in New York – wealthy, white, super-consumer gays. I would recommend Martin F. Manalansan’s article “Race, Violence, and Neoliberal Spatial Politics in the Global City” when the author writes “…to be gay and to be free in the contemporary moment means to wear Prada,” which is the message that the A-list is portraying.
I would recommend the film “Paris Is Burning,” because in the film, queers of color in the ballroom scene during the 1980s reiterate the the statement that they personally feel that whiteness and wealth are standards to live by and live up to. And I don’t think this documentary is outdated because it is apparent that The A-List is perpetuating that ideal.
Interesting. I am learning so much.
omg, austin boy u need a life,
So True, Austin Armacost….GET A LIFE!!!
and rodney, you should run so fast!!
I read a lot of the comments, but I like the show. Am I wrong for that?
well, the thing is… that there’s really gay-people like this in NYC, you know gay-wifes of rich guys. but the difference is, they’re not as tacky and they would never go on a show like that. the real gay a-listers live very private life, tho some of them are public figures (michael lucas, pedro andrade), some of them keep in the shadow, but popping now and then having dinner with barry diller or marc jacobs.
yuahoo
i think the show is just the best, i cant get enough!!! i love Ryan, but Austin is a pain…..
Nyasha is an immature gutter snipe. I would slap the extensions out of her hair for that big mouth she’s got. What a dog she is!
Oh I forgot…she is stupid “N” as well. No shame to her game the foul biotch.
I want to be on the A-list new york I want to come out my shy mood and let other people I can make it in the world people look at me and put me down I want to show every one that I’m bi

Great article. I can¡¯t wait to hear more about your research tool. If it is as good as your other products, then you will have another winner. Your article pretty much summed up what I have been seeing too. Great to see some hard data.
