If you want to see something Hilarious, head out to the movies on Sept. 8. EW.com has learned that Louis C.K.’s stand-up concert film—which premiered at Sundance in January—will be screened for that one night in the following eight cities: Austin; Boston; Chicago; Los Angeles; New York City; Philadelphia; San Francisco; and Washington, D.C. (Click on the individual cities or www.louisck.net for more information on Friday, when tickets begin to go on sale.) If you can’t find Louis C.K.: Hilarious at a theater near you, fear not. The cable channel Epix will debut the film on Sept. 18, and Comedy Central also has plans to air it next year and to release it on DVD. The 42-year-old comedian, known for his fearlessness and loathing (self-based and other kinds), can be seen in his FX comedy Louie; he’ll also kick off a 31-city stand-up tour on Sept. 17 in San Francisco.

The dramatized bits in “Louie” can be up and down (mostly up, in my opinion), but the bits with him doing stand-up ALWAYS kill!

Definitely one of the most original shows on tv right now.
For me Louie has been worth sticking with through the first season. It has been spotty for sure, but as awkwardly brilliant as Curb Your Enthusiasm or Flight of the Conchords enough times that it is a watch-the-next-day show on my DVR. The airport/plane scenes in the “She’s a big fan of you” episode with little or no dialogue were among the funniest bits I’ve ever seen on TV.
The TV show is hilarious, really one of the best shows on TV right now.
I have always enjoyed Louis CK’s stand-up. Certainly performing in that idiom represents him at the top of his game. However, his show on FX has taken it to the next level. I find it odd that he is the first to use the original Seinfeld formula of using said stand-up as fodder for the show proper. Explaining what goes on in the show would be dubious at best to the uninitiated, but it works quite well in practice. In short, this is the best non ensemble comedy in years, and FX would do best to give it several seasons to develop. In any case, I am glad to have seen this season, as it tackles many subjects most shows are too chicken *poop* to take on. Thanks Louis!

It’s a really good show. Lucky Louie was a classic that was never given a chance to develop. Hopefully this show gets more time. It’s gotta be picking up the ratings.

I’ve been a fan of this guy since his HBO half-hour comedy special in 1995. Louie’s observations on fatherhood, indie coffee shops and sucking a bag of d*cks are pretty priceless. Can’t wait for the movie.
