I have loved Ian ever since he was on Lost, plus he is a much better actor. People are in love with the character of Edward. Can people stop mentioning Eric? this is about Damon and Edward. Just because you watch True Blood doesn’t make you cool. You have to keep in mind if it wasn’t for this whole fandom among vampires because of Twilight there wouldn’t be a show of True Blood. This is coming from someone who is sick and tired of people obsessing about vampires when before they thought that people who were into that stuff were weird and creepy but once Twilight came along everyone is like “omg! vampires! I want to be a vampire” etc etc.
That’s a joke right? True Blood was airing on HBO before the first Twilight even hit theaters. Not to mention the Sookie Stackhouse novels were in bookstores and had a big following years before the first Twilight book was even published.
you do realize that the first season of True Blood was pretty much already almost completed, was already a hit for HBO with a big ratings growth over the season, and had already been greenlit for a second season before the movie Twilight released across cinemas.

I have 2 agree with Cindy that it was Twilight that cause Vampire-fever, even though the other stuff was out there already, they just didn’t have the same impact!And really, people, stop making this out to be a kids flick, cause it appeals to girls/women (and even men)of all ages.Me and my friends are between 25-33 and we all just love the Twilight saga and Vampire Diaries.
Buffy put vampires in the forfront of pop culture. True Blood brought a more adult approach and allowed vampires to be taken seriously by being up in the most respected industry awards. Vampire Diaries is also a great show that turned out to have much more to it then I originally thought. Don’t care for Twilight, it’s the most most popular but seems to have the least substance. The only impact I see it having is getting a lot of young girls to buy tickets at the box office. P.S.: I hope Damon wins.
Shouldn’t the quality of the material be what really counts, rather then who came first? But if we want to get into it, True Blood was already popular before Twilight started hitting this crazy fever pitch, and though Twilight was popular before the films were released, it’s popularity was not as main stream. Twilight is the series most responsible for the current vampire craze. And Vampire Diaries probably wouldn’t be a TV show without Twilight, but that doesn’t mean Vampire Diaries isn’t a good show. And Buffy is just awesome.

I’m sorry SM writing the final book in the Twilight series was in the works and nearly done with the editing/publising process before Twilight the movie was even made. It even came out before the movie hit the big screen. It came out in Aug of 08 and the movie in Nov. of 08. The movie was being flimed in the spring of 08. It takes a lot more time than a couple months to put a book together. Think before you ramble on about stuff you have no idea what you are talking about.

Every story is different to it’s own acccord, and each character is deserving of the praise it gets from it’s own fans.
