I watch a lot of reality TV, so I often depend on Reese’s commercials to prompt some of my deeper thoughts. The latest, set to Loverboy’s “Working for the Weekend,” is a real stunner.
I take no issue with the notion that chocolate and peanut butter is the best combination since Saturday and Sunday. They were smart to use “best since” instead of something preposterous like “better than,” you know? I mean, I like chocolate peanut butter ice cream, but I love that it’s almost the weekend. (And it should go without saying that “I love my Prada backpack.”)
Suddenly a doomsday scenario struck my low-activity brain. What if I could only enjoy ONE of these four elements — each of which I consider to be just as important as earth, air, water, or fire — for the rest of time? It was too much to process and I don’t want to bum you out, so instead vote below for which element you could potentially live ***without.***
If you think you have a beter combination than either chocolate/peanut butter or Saturday/Sunday, suggest it in the comments so everyone else can call you an idiot!

I’m shocked that PB is winning. Maybe because I grew up in a country where it was hard to find a good peanut butter, and hence never really loved it.
Still, PB over chocolate?
Its which thing could you live WITHOUT.
Josie, this poll is asking which one you need the least. Therefore, PB in the lead makes perfect sense.
Yeah, it makes total sense, and I’m glad to see I’m not alone in thinking peanut butter, while enjoyable sometimes, is NOT a necessity. I would chuck Saturday right out the window, though, if it meant I could still have chocolate. Sunday…………… well, I’m not so sure about Sunday. It’s my favorite day.
Try Arrowhead Peanut Butter (the natural version). It’s amazing!
Sundays suck, all I do is watch ANTM marathons.
How could anyone vote peanut butter? It is the world’s perfect food!
I friggin hate Sundays! I feel like I’m just waiting/dreading Monday all day long.
Definitely the worst day of the week. No, wait. That would be Tuesday!
How could I not vote for Sunday? My day dedicated to laundry, cleaning, and finishing up work before work on Monday. The only thing that makes the day tolerable is shows on HBO.
No way. Sunday is my favorite day. My entire family is home, together, and it’s scrabble night!
I would die without peanut butter and chocolate. So good! There is nothing good about Sundays.
I definitely hate Sundays too, I do nothing on those days!
I LOVE my Sketchers- but that’s because I don’t have a Prada backpack! (Love the reference, too funny!)
Slow news day?
Slow on the uptake day? This is a lunchtime poll, which you’re obviously not familiar with. Every weekday, we get to vote in a completely useless, often silly poll. It’s usually one of the highlights of my afternoon.
haha I didn’t read this all the way through and voted saturday, when I could totally live without peanut butter.
Peanut butter is perfect! It’s what got me through basic training six years ago. Sunday… well, as long as I had Saturday to recover from Friday nights, I think I could go without Sunday.
I have to work on Saturdays a lot, so I’d just as soon live without them. This may not be a popular decision with people who always get a 2 day weekend, but as someone who hardly ever does, I say they’re gone.
Now I PROBABLY thought this through a little too much, but I think people fail to realize that with Sunday gone, Saturday would become the NEW Sunday (aka last day of the weekend before Monday). Therefore, take my Peanut Butter instead.
This commercial has been around forever. It reminds me of those Snickers ads that would say things like “Patrick Chewing”. Anyway, I’d choose Sunday, because Sundays consist of my mother calling to try to get me to go to church, dreading the fact that the next day is Monday, and feeling obligated to watch Desperate Housewives. Although Sunday is when Mad Men’s on so…nevermind. I’d rather never eat peanut butter again then live a life where Jon Hamm isn’t on my television.
Take my chocolate, but leave my peanut butter. Also: I need Saturday and Sunday.
Chocolate…and CHIP!
one of my fave candies, and two of my fave movie HEATHERS and 10 THINGS… all rolled into one. THANKS ANNIE
Excellent 10 Things I Hate About You reference. That movie is so great and very quotable.
How can peanut butter be losing?!! People, what would we do without Nutter Butters?! Giving up my Sunday is no problem!
But I love *my* Sketchers.
