'Vanishing on 7th Street' trailer: Do not go gentle into that good light. Or do. I'm confused.

In The Machinist director Brad Anderson’s upcoming apocalyptic thriller Vanishing on 7th Street, a massive power blackout causes the population to physically disappear from Earth (and leaves behind bad special effects of an airplane crashing without a pilot). Survivors Hayden Christensen, Thandie Newton, and John Leguizamo band together in a tavern and struggle to survive as the darkness hones in on them. That synopsis, I can follow. It’s the trailer that confounds me: What does the man mean when he says, “Stay near a light source, but do not trust any light other than the one that you hold in your own hand.” Is the light good or bad? It would be an interesting plot device if they had to fight every human urge to go into the light, which is where you’d think you’d be safe…

Well, Hayden Christenson can’t act, Thandie Newton can, and John Leguizamo is both obviously not going to survive the whole movie, and awesome.

No idea what this is about, but I’ll see it to find out if the director does.

Mandi why dont you go see that crap eat prey love agian and leave the good ones to us.

  • devilsidkick

this looks like one of those “left behind” movies

  • Jose

Mandi, he was talking about a flashlight. Trust only your own source of light because any other can dissapear.

  • devilsidkick

thanks Jose i thought that also.

It really does look interesting, but I don’t like Hayden Christensen. I’ll wait till it comes out on DVD and rent it.

Are we to believe that the sound of an airplane quickly descending towards Earth behind Hayden Christensen would not get his attention until it hits the ground and explodes?

  • Barry

Looks like 1 of those movies with no money for special effects so the monsters are hidden by the darkness.

  • Xena

That plane looked awfully small to make such a close-looking explosion. And if there is no light, I’m assuming there is no sun — so why is the moon shining? If there is something blocking the sunlight, then the moonlight would be blocked as well from getting to the city. SMH, doesn’t make sense. @devilsidekick is right, it did look like a left behind movie.

Looks like a Shyamalan movie. I’m in.

Well Di, did you graduate from a pestigious Ark York Drama school or the New York Acting school? Were you a nationally ranked tennis player with a scholarship to college? HAYDEN CHRISTENSEN DID, plus he’s been acting since he was 7-8 years old. Get your facts straight. You need to READ more.

I don’t think any of this matters to Di’s assessment. A lot of people dislike Hayden Christensen’s acting (especially a lot of Star Wars fans, of course), and I have to say that it didn’t impress me in this preview. …and, drama degrees aside, whether or not he can play tennis is, of course, completely irrelevant.

what’s all this talk about Hayden’s acting? he so can act! shut up all those who are badmouthing him! hello golden globe nominations besides this movie is going to rock!

  • Girl P

Hayden’s acting is similar to Keanu. One note, expressionless, ambitious but doesn’t usually deliver all that it promises. If you want to blame the material go ahead I don’t care. We all have our different tastes.

I heard there is going to be a prequel to I am Legend, I wonder if this is it?

  • Ida Seenit

I am interested to see it not from trailer but from concept. Hayden is a good actor, he’s been a lot of bad movies but I do not blame him but the writing. Does anyone else confuse him with Paul Walker?

  • Larisa

Hayden Christensen is the best . he makes me wanna go see all da movies hes in . besides this movie looks good so blahh to da haters (:
