'My Soul to Take' trailer: Wes Craven + 3D = wet pants?

The trailer for My Soul to Take, written and directed by Wes Craven, has hit the Web and it’s not as terrifying as you might expect. (Though that could just be because the shot of the church made me think of Gilmore Girls.) Sixteen years ago, a serial killer, the Riverton Ripper, allegedly took his last breath. Now the question is whether his soul went into one of the seven children who were born that night or if he survived and has returned with his knife. Watch the trailer below and tell me if 3D Wes Craven is scarier than 2D. And also, what’s up with that bird man (?) near the end.

This looks like a fun, creepy little horror flick. I’ll take this movie over a thousand SAWs anyday.

Wes Craven at his best is one of the best horror directors of all time. Nightmare On Elm Street and Scream are proof of that. I remember renting Scream right after graduating HS and watching it with a large group of friends. We were every last one of us terrified. If this is anywhere near as good, I am so in.

Hush little baby don’t say a word
And never mind that noise you heard
It’s just the beasts under your bed
In your closet and in your head

    Exit light
    Enter night
    Grain of sand

    Exit light
    Enter Night
    Take my hand!
    We’re off to never never-land

Looks pretty lame..Although could just be a bad trailer. I will see it anyway I’m sure.

It looks like a throwback to the 90 slasher boom. Which I am fine with. Trailer is not scary at all, but frankly, few slasher trailers are.

I’m still not sold on live-action 3D, especially if it’s converted after the fact. Then the movies just look like a shadowy, pop-up book. I’ll see it for Wes Craven, not the technology.

I saw the terrible 3D Nightmare on Elm Street movie (I forget which one of them it was), so no, the thought of another 3D film from Wes Craven does not sound scary to me in the least.

Except that Wes Craven had nothing to do with the 6th Nightmare on Elm Street (the one the ending was in 3D). His only involvments were with 1, 3, and 7.
