Chris Lambton reportedly turns down 'Bachelor' gig

bachelorette-chris-lImage Credit: Craig Sjodin/ABCThat sound you hear (damp Kleenex landing in the bottom of a plastic waste bin?) is Bachelor fans’ hearts (possibly) breaking. E! Online reports that Chris Lambton, Ali Fedotowsky’s runner-up on the sixth season of The Bachelorette, was asked to be the next Bachelor and said no. In a PopWatch poll earlier this month, 71 percent of readers thought Lambton — better known as Chris L. — should inherit the gig. That’s on-par with the feedback we got in a late-July PopWatch poll conducted after we expressed our conflicted feelings about the possibility of a role reversal for the most decent guy ever to step out of a Bachelor/Bachelorette limo: “Do we actually trust Mike Fleiss to set Chris up with 25 sane women worthy of him?” we asked. Even before seeing Bachelor Pad. “No. He’s got a TV show to make. The minute 33-year-old Chris decides to keep a 21-year-old who bites through a can or reads bad poetry to make a good first impression, it’s over.”

E! Online’s source tells them producers are still trying to woo Lambton. Reps for The Bachelor would not comment to EW on their search. What I want to know is this: Are you still rooting for Chris to put aside his little privacy issues and be the next Bachelor? Because, you know, it’s been two weeks since we asked.

Thank goodness Chris said no! He is way too real for this show and deserves to find love off camera. I’m hoping he sticks to his guns and they actually find someone *gasp* new for the first time in a few seasons.

Best of luck to him – he’s seems like a good guy, but I wouldn’t wish that hot mess of desperation that is “The Bachelor” on anyone.

Chris is absolutely amazing, genuine, loving man.. (and very handsome to boot) the last thing he needs is to get caught up in the jaded bachelor franchise and 15sec of fame. he will be fine.. and I know his mother would agree.

I am also so glad that he said know. It gives me faith that my impression of him, that he had a moment of insanity and then actually liked Ali, was correct. I think that this is the best route for him.

      • Dana

I think I need to stop watching reality tv. I meant no.

I am so glad he said no. To be the one who has to rush through getting to know 25 women isn’t his style. He took it slow with Ali and this wouldn’t be possible if he was the one who had to make the selections each week. Kudos to him for staying true to himself. He is an awesome guy & will find love for sure. It doesn’t need to be on tv.

Chris is too good to be the next bachelor. He doesn’t need to sort thru all the bimbos that Fleiss will throw his way.

    • Natalie

Totally agree! And not only would they be bimbos, they’d be wannabe actresses/ models who would have absolutely no real interest in him…they’d only be interesting in being seen on TV and advancing their non-existent careers.

    • tomm

Yeah, he is better off going back home and finding someone, since he wants to stay in Mass. Most contestants want to ‘go Hollywood’.

  • Bobbi

I hope Chris makes his refusal stick. He seems like a great guy. He shouldn’t have any problem finding someone now that he knows he’s ready to do so. I wish him the best!

  • Jen

I actually prefer the recycled Bachelor/ettes. The producers tend to pick the most boring people on their own (Lorenzo and Andy Baldwim come to mind). Still, I do believe Chris is too good for the show and have no doubts he will find a good woman on his own.

  • Elle

Chris made the right decision by saying no. He is way to good for the bachelor and he’ll meet someone soon :)

  • Jen

I totally agree. While it would be great to see Chris happy, look at what the producers did to Ali with the wrestler and Frank. I think they would totally mess with him.

  • film4future

Thank goodness! Absolutely the right decision for Chris. The show would eat him alive.

  • Shannon

I hope he officially says no and is not the next bachelor. He is too good for reality television. Plus, I can’t see a nice guy like that being comfortable being that bachelor anyway. I’m sure he’s not having any trouble finding girls now. Good luck, Chris! Hopefully you find a nice, cool, sweet, down-to-earth woman to live happily ever after with in Massachusetts.

    • Erin

      I agree….especially since I’m in Massachusetts! lol
Gives me hope that great men still exist here.

  • Madd

I hope Chris finds all the happiness in the world. He obviously doesn’t want more fame like some people (coughJakecoughcough) shows just how great of a guy he is.

  • Marci

I agree, Chris is sweetheart and we all want to see him happy. So even though we do not want him on this show, we would like to be up-dated when he does find someone – and she better be great!!

  • Lori Adams

Run, Chris. Run far, far away!!!

  • Georgia

I’m so glad he said no. He is too good for this. As much as I really liked him as a contestant, I don’t think I’d watch him as the bachelor anyway. It would be painful. He is WAY too good for this.

  • jen

    I bet he’ll do DWTS!!

  • Kelly

Good for him! Further proof that he really is “too real for reality TV”. I’m sure he’ll have no shortage of ladies in his future, without a tv show!
