Image Credit: Double Negative; Oni Press; ABCJuliette Lewis has blue hair now, so thanks to Ramona Flowers (Mary Elizabeth Winstead) in Scott Pilgrim vs. the World, my “meh” idea for a Lunchtime Poll is actually totally relevant. That’s almost never the case!
I called EW’s resident hair dye expert Michael Slezak in for a consult, and he likes Juliette’s hair the best because it reminds him of one of Crayola’s most valuable crayons, Midnight Blue. We then reminisced about what a triumph it used to be to choose a blue from the box and have it turn out to be Midnight Blue, just as we’d hoped! Then I mentioned I also loooooooved Brick Red, and then Slezak became a tiny bit profound: “Brick Red is the Midnight Blue of reds.” We could talk about crayons all day or you could just vote already.
Dear everyone piping up about Katy Perry: I hear ya, but wigs don’t count.
Another great post from Annie Barrett! Now let’s all watch Sesame Street‘s “How Crayons Are Made” video (orange, d’oh!) just for the taste of it, like Diet Coke.

None of the above:
Marge Simpson looked downright sexy when she wore her blue hair down. I’ll give it to her. (I liked Clementine’s bright red hair better than her blue.)
I agree. How can Marge Simpson not be on this list/poll? She’s been a beautiful bluehead since before any of these characters were thought up.
Agree with Ceballos re: Marge with her hair down. Also: CERULEAN.
I am not voting because of the egregious absence of Katy Perry.
Yep
Oh, and my favorite color was Maize
Sorry, wigs don’t count!
But drawn comic book character’s hair does? Geh?
It’s still her real animated hair on her real animated head, not a fake animated wig.
I agree Amanda – KP should be here.
Annie – is Juliet Lewis’ not a wig? Sure looks like it!
Sorry – Juliette (not Juliet).
oh yeah – “melon” was my favorite.
Their hair colour is more of a gimmick …the only one who really sold the blue hair was of course – Mrs Slocombe of the show “Are you Being Served”
Totally agree with you there. I was about to suggest Mrs. Slocombe and I seen someone else knew of the show. I’m happy now.
yea! didnt katy perry like invent blue hair this year?!
Burnt Sienna was my favourite colour in a box of crayons. And I have to agree with the great hue of Katy Perry!!!
I second the Burnt Sienna!
Hmm. I was always partial to the cerulean blue crayon, myself…
But I agree with Slezak, Juliette Lewis’ hair color is the prettiest of the bunch above.
cerulean was my favorite too and my wedding color
Me too! Cerulean all the way!
cerulean rocked my world. perfection in pigmented wax.
There was some kind of Crayola-naming contest when I was a kid for some new colors and one of the winners is my all-time favorite: macaroni and cheese.
Juliette: because she looks committed to that hue.
Agree with Slezak as well. I always liked cornflower because it had a translucent quality to it.
Nooo! Cornflower tricked you into thinking it was Cerulean, and then it wasn’t! Did not like.
TOTALLY AGREE, Jean. haha
I feel very strongly about this: What you call “translucent” I call a waxy, streaky mess. Something about cornflower blue’s texture was wrong wrong wrong.
!!! That’s exactly it. Cornflower was WAXY.
cornflower can kiss my cerulean a$$!
(deep breath)…forgive me…
Midnight Blue!
Yes! Total agreement, my favorite, too.
Everyone knows cerulean and jungle green were the best.
Where is Katy Perry on this list?
Hunter green! And what on earth is the story behind Juliette Lewis’s hair?
Juliette Lewis is so out there, that it never even occurred to me that there was a story behind her hair. I was like, “Ok, Juliette Lewis’ hair is blue now…moving on.”
I’m geeking out right now: Brick Red and Midnight Blue – TOTALLY my favorite colors of all time. I was obsessed as a child, and to this day almost everything in my house is an homage to those two delightfully perfect hues. I have now confirmed what I’ve always thought – Annie and Slezak are, in fact, my soul mates in all things utterly unimportant (in other words, the most fun things).

Didn’t Lil Kim start this “trend” 15 years ago? Why isnt it still just as ghetto and classless as it was when she did it?
Also a wig, although I assumed that the girl playing Ramona was wearing as well?
