The LA Times’ Ministry of Gossip has confirmed that Angelina Jolie is not attached to star as Marilyn Monroe in the adaptation of author Andrew O’Hagan’s novel The Life And Opinions Of Maf The Dog, And Of His Friend Marilyn Monroe. The Daily Mail reported that O’Hagan (Be Near Me) had recently revealed that Jolie had beat out Scarlett Johansson and Christina Hendricks for the role. His novel, well-received in the UK and hitting US shelves in December, is told from the perspective of Marilyn’s beloved pet Mafia Honey (Maf for short), a gift from Frank Sinatra in 1960. Through his eyes, the last two years of her life unfold. Watch the animated trailer for the book below.
Who would you like to see play Monroe in the film? Were it to actually end up on the big screen, Johansson or Hendricks would be lovely. Lifetime? Jennifer Love Hewitt.
So much for trying to fire up the rumor mill to build buzz for your book, I guess. On the other hand, this movie sounds so amazingly stupid that I have no doubt it will get made.

Ugh, why do they even keep making these movies? There is nobody like Marilyn. She was a one and only true original. She can’t be replicated or duplicated.
I love Angie, but she is nothing like Marilyn, She would have to gain at least 50 pounds. Her face, eyes, lips is nothing like hers. I believe if they cast someone they better be as big as Angie, a new comer or someone on the B list wont cut it.

Casting Jolie as Cleopatra was enough of a mistake. Look, I think Jolie can be a good actress when she wants to be, but the truths is she bears no resemblance to Marilyn Monroe or Cleopatra.

It seems too much like the Christmas letters people send, written from the perspective of the family cat or dog, all about the goings on with ‘their people’ throughout the year.

she is perhaps the most iconic character in american cinema, she would be an impossible person to portray. no matter who plays her she will not measure up

Jolie is by far the antithesis of Marilyn. Someone more like the late Anna Nicole, less volatile, softer, Jessica Simpson irrelevant, a whiff of trash. Jolie is hard, bones, willful, weird. They’re totally night and day; oil and water….
Kim Kadashian is the most suitable actress to play Marilyn Monroe in this flick. Ms Monroe wasn’t that great c’mon people. I’m not sure whether she could have succeed in today’s business.

It’s obvious Jolie couldn’t play MArilyn because you know Marily wasn’t an emaciated, crack head looking woman like Jolie has become. Eat a sandwich girl!
