Image Credit: Mario Perez/CBS; Patrick Ecclesine/FoxThe new fall show that has viewers most psyched? CBS’ Hawaii Five-O reboot (starring Alex O’Loughlin, pictured left). Yep, gripe all you want about the endless recycling of ideas in Hollywood — but a survey by consumer analysis company NewMediaMetrics (as reported in Advertising Age) finds that viewers are more “emotionally attached” to the updated tropical cop show than any of the season’s other new offerings, thus proving the up side to a recognizable franchise. Rounding out the top 5: CBS’ $#*! My Dad Says (another familiar name, this one from Justin Halpern’s popular Twitter feed), Fox’s Running Wilde (from Arrested Development‘s producers, starring Will Arnett and Keri Russell), Fox’s Raising Hope (sorry, I’m not sure why people are attached to this one … maybe they’re excited about My Name Is Earl creator Greg Garcia making another show? Martha Plimpton being on TV regularly? Either is a decent argument.), and CBS’ Mike and Molly (a comedy from Two and a Half Men‘s Chuck Lorre about a couple that meets at an Overeaters Anonymous meeting). In case you’re wondering how well this measure predicts future success, the top 5 from last year were: NCIS: Los Angeles, The Cleveland Show, Accidentally on Purpose, The Good Wife, and FlashForward. Hey, three-and-a-half out of five isn’t bad.
So let’s do our own — probably far less scientific, but hopefully more satisfying — survey right here on PopWatch! Tell us which shows you’re anticipating most. May we humbly suggest Lone Star (starring James Wolk, pictured right), UnderCovers, Nikita, or maybe No Ordinary Family?

So far, I like what I’ve seen and heard of “Lone Star”, “No Ordinary Family” (Chiklis AND Benz!) and “The Event.”
Will definitely tune in to “The Undercovers” too.
*Undercovers
Wow.. Nostalgia Hawaii Five-o
From what i’ve seen the only resemblance to The original H50 is the name and the location.
and apparently the phrase ‘book em danno’….ugh….what a stupid article. how do you get attached to a show that you have never seen.
Blue Bloods. Give me murder, seduction and betrayal / deceit (ya know it’s coming) inside the NYPD and I’m in. That’s that.
I forgot about Blue Bloods. It does seem to have potential and talk about nostalgia: The Mustache and NKOTB’s Donnie. Enough said.
I’ll watch just about anything with Tom Selleck. I grew up watching him on Magnum PI and have enjoyed watching his TV movies as Jesse Stone. He’s aged quite well and I have a thing for him and his ‘stache… I hope the show works out and that viewers will warm-up to it. I’d hate to see it become an early casualty of the familair network dump if it doesn’t find viewership within the first 2 episodes.
If they do a remake of Magnum, I sure hope it’s with Matt Bomer as Magnum. YUMMM!
I am most excited for Lonestar. I will take a series devoted to character development any day of the week.
Raising Hope, No Ordinary Family and The Event all seem to have some potential so I will check them out.
I am curious about Running Wilde, mainly because of my undying love for all things Will Arnett and Keri Russell.
What doesn’t interest me? Mike and Molly, Sh*t My Dad Says, Detroit 187 and especially My Generation which I predict will be the first casualty of the new season.
My Generation looks like Reunion. Remember that show?
Really? That’s the top 5?
Sigh. This could be 2002. Or 1996. Or 1988. Lame retread sitcoms (with pun-ny names!) and drama-of-the-week shows. Egad.
Top o’ my list by far is “The Walking Dead”.
Better With You. The ABC show with Joanna Garcia. She is such an underrated, funny actress. Loved her in Privileged. Can’t wait to see it.
Interesting…I haven’t even heard of this show – and I read everything I can find on fall TV…
Hawaii Five-0 this is going to be a rockin re-boot!
How is Mike and Molly on that list!?!
I don’t know, but if the stars don’t get thinner every week it will be a failure.
Hawaii Five-O
The Event
Undercovers
No Ordinary Family
Lone Star
And, yeah not sure what appeals about the Raising Hope show.
Undercovers, most definitely. Running Wilde also. And I’m looking forward to Mr. Sunshine next year.
The Event has me intrigued. Raising Hope looks like it will be pretty funny, but I’m afraid that particular kind of comedy may grow old fast. I’m not watching any of the new shows on ABC because what’s the point!?!
Hawaii Five-0 with Alex O’Loughlin as Steve McGarrett is going to be the BEST show this upcoming season. I can’t wait to watch it!
Don’t forget Grace Park, Daniel Dae Kim and Scott Caan! I can’t wait to see this awesome cast every week.
I hate getting my hopes up only to be disappointed in the end, especially since I have a rather large gap in my Monday nights without “24″ now. So far, the only one I’m willing to give a go to is “Hawaii Five-O”.
All the NBC stuff looks like take-offs of previous shows. And considering how things panned out with all their new dramas last year, I’m not holding my breath.
H50 and Lone Star
BTW, Jennifer, love the 2 attached pictures! I can’t wait for my weekly AOL fix, and James Wolk is mighty fine.
NEW SHOWS:
1. The Event.
2. The Walking Dead.
3. Undercovers.
4. No Ordinary Family.
NEW SEASONS:
1. Fringe.
2. Community.
3. Supernatural.
THE WALKING DEAD! Frank Darabont knows how to adapt drama and horror, see The Green Mile, Shawshank Redemption, and The Mist… very high hopes for this!
“No Ordinary Family” i a horrible name — so bad it could kill a potentially good show (i.e. “Back To You”)
