Whoopi Goldberg accused of hitting 'Real Housewives' cast member on 'The View'

Whoopi Goldberg has been accused of hitting Michaele Salahi, the Real Housewives of DC cast member who made headlines last year for allegedly showing up uninvited to an event at the White House, according to ABC. (A lawyer for the Salahis told The Hollywood Reporter this morning that the couple “may not be referred to as ‘party crashers’ as that statement is false and defamatory.”)

In a statement issued by ABC, the network says that the Salahis claim Goldberg hit Michaele during her appearance on The View on Wednesday to promote The Real Housewives of DC. Check out the full press release and the clip of the actual show below:

“At one point during Michaele Salahi’s appearance on The View on Wednesday, Whoopi Goldberg lightly touched Ms. Salahi to get her attention and said to her, ‘Excuse me, can you get back to the White House, please,’ meaning could Ms. Salahi return to the original subject of the conversation. After the show, Ms. Salahi and her husband accused Whoopi of hitting Ms. Salahi. As the broadcast clearly shows, the accusation was completely unfounded and erroneous. After the show and after being told she was being accused of hitting Ms. Salahi, Whoopi proceeded to defend herself verbally from this baseless claim in a heated exchange with the Salahis.”

“Ms. Salahi claims she never said that Whoopi hit her,” the ABC press release continues.

A rep for ABC says the issue will be discussed on The View today (What? The View? Courting controversy? Never!), so I guess we’ll just have to stay tuned to see what happens…

Is it bad that I kind of wish she HAD hit Salahi? The woman is a boil on the butt of humanity…

    • Elizabeth

No, we all wish we could. And I’d make it worth the effort since I’d probably be spending a little time in jail.

Seriously, I encourage folks to avoid all Bravo programming in response of giving this woman a spot on this show.

      • Cat

Elizabeth, I’d contribute towards your bail and defense costs!

      • Stan

The harder you hit her, the more I’d contribute!

    • Liddy

Spot on Bryan. Now that would be entertaining TV.

    • Kat

Totally with you there, Bryan. I’ve avoided media stories about this woman but I watched this clip…and she’s a nightmare. “People just love to hate other people” – oh honey, people love hating villains and idiots and crazed narcissists. That’s why people hate you, and now I totally understand.

    • TQB

honestly, you know that’s what we’re all thinking.

      • Barry

I would hand Whoopi the baseball bat!!

    • Holly

And this is the same show that our president was on just the other day. Perhaps he will get some camera time on the Real Housewives next?

    • John

wow – if that is “hitting” wonder what would have happened if someone really took a good whack at her – she has confirmed her wimpy-ness

    • laura

I am with you … This ‘party crashers’ remind me of a older Heidi and Spencer …

    • JessicaL

How is it defamatory and false to call them party crashers? Were they invited to the White House party? If not their lawyer needs to stuff it because that’s called crashing a party.

    • Toni

Yeah, if Whoopi had done it, she should be given a medal.

    • Fern

Michaele is like the (kinda) grown-up Heidi Montag. Blech.

  • Dottie654

The Salahi’s are in serious financial trouble. Watch for a lawsuit. They are real scumbags.

  • JPX

Salahi is a desperate, pathetic, fame whore and her accusation of being “hit” is just another way to get attention.

    • M&M

Why does she have that dopey look on her face? Oh, wait. It’s because she’s a dope.

    • TMRZoo Neil

Seems to be working pretty well

  • john_c

Both should settle the score by having a celebrity death match.

HAHA!!! I wish she had beat the botox out of that fake slut.

    • Js

      She’s not a fake slut. She’s a real slut.

      • TQB

      • Offended

Sorry, I don’t like this woman at all, but in what way is she a slut? So sexist to use that as an insult just because she’s female.

  • Tibor

There ought to be a law that if you “star” on a reality show, it is legal for anyone to punch you in the face.

    • bea troux

Tibor made me laugh. This woman is disgusting. I had wanted to tune in for first show; but, because of this disgusting woman,I will stick with slighty less-disgusting Danielle Staub.

    • joeyb

best laugh i have had all day, thanks.

    • Rosemary

      AMEN sie!

    • Rosemary

      AMEN sir!

    • Shannon

In the name of all that is good in the world, where is your petition so I can sign it!!!

    • tv bug

if you all would quit watching those so called “reality” shows, they would take them all of the air. HURRAY!!!!!!!

  • TJ

I thought they admitted they did NOT have an invitation? So why can’t they be called “party crashers”??

  • quinn

You know what this woman it seems will do and say n e thing to get her name out there. Congrats to Whoppi girl i’m glad sum body put her n her place. She got on my nerves so bad yesterday and by the way if they were so innocent y did they have to plead the 5th. Please she aint fooling nobody.

  • john_c

    whoopi is not innocent either!!

    • Housewife in the Desert

      I beg your pardon, john_c?

    • RJ

Really @ john_c? What is she guilty of? Trying to get an airheaded bimbo back on track? Did you watch the show? Whoopi did nothing wrong, her position as moderator on the show makes her responsible for at least trying to keep the guests, as well as her co-hosts, from going too far off track.

  • rose belfield

I watch the view everyday…i was shocked to hear what they accused Whoopi of. I do not agree to any type of physical violence…and clearly Whoppi did not do that.

  • Phil

This one is a wash. No one cares about the Salahi’s and no one cares about ladies of The View.

    • Stevex

All hail Phil, Spokesman for Humanity. Does that job pay well?

    • Heather

Phil I agree! If anything they are all just plain annoying at best. You can never hear what point anyone is trying to communicate because they are all aimlessly talking over one another. As for Mrs. Salahi…well, I kind of feel bad for her. Yes, annoying, yes, a compulsive liar; however, I think she is not narcissistic, but a sociopath. She is really convinced of the things she says, and I believe this. That is sad.

  • Diggity

I didn’t even see Whoopi in this clip. Am I crazy?

    • Kat

LOL you only see her hand on the woman’s arm (barely) and then you see her walking back offstage, and that’s it. I don’t know how the View works because I don’t watch it, so I don’t understand why Whoopi wasn’t taking part in this segment.

      • Diggity

Ok, thanks, now I see it. So weird!

      • dartwoman63

Sometimes only a couple of them interview someone, when they do a food segment it is usually only 2 of them and Joy usually has a comic on and it is just her.

    • molly

I didn’t see her either, I fast forwarded through it thinking Whoopi would be on later. I’ll check it out again. My guess is Whoopi wanted no part of this interview.

  • Jason

Why is this woman on tv? Why is this a top news story on Google? WHY AM I EVEN COMMENTING ON THIS HOLE?

    • John

@jason – you are commenting on this HO because confronting the HO is person is so out of everyone’s league here – but we all wish we had our one shot at them – WHaCK

  • john_c

If the Salahi was such a bad person, why would the view invited her on the show.

If Whoopi can’t stand the Salahi, she could refuse to interview her. I am sure nobody would miss Whoopi if she was absent during that segment.

    • duh

      whoopi DIDN’T do the interview…all black women AREN’T whoopi… that was SHERRI…

    • Elizabeth

      Promotional move by Bravo

You know – the reason anything is done these days: MONEY

Really, just quit trying to defend Salahi – what value does she bring to the universe?

    • AT

She was absent during the segment.

    • john_c

IF Whoopi was not the interviewer, why would she appear and pat Salahi’s shoulder? Would it be the responsibility of whoever doing the interview to oversee the interview, and not Whoopi?

Was Whoopi too nosy and she got what she deserved for being nosy!?

  • kh

Oh Boo Hoo. You wanted fame baby and now you have it. Grow up would you!!!
