Jane Lynch unveils wax Sue Sylvester at Madame Tussauds. Watch!

jane-lynch-wax-figureImage Credit: Jay McKee/Retna Ltd.Jane Lynch has been immortalized at Madame Tussauds Hollywood in the form of Sue Sylvester. Her reaction to seeing her wax better half at yesterday’s unveiling ceremony: “Unbelievable. Ohmygod, this is too much. It’s too weird. I feel like I’m seeing myself in a coffin or something,” she told the crowd. “Oh, this is amazing. You guys are great. And I think you might have minimized my ass, and I appreciate that. Thank you so much. Let’s hear it for Sue Sylvester!” Watch the ceremony in the clip below.

Lynch is introduced by Glee co-executive producer Ian Brennan, who she thanked for writing the dialogue she now spends most of her time memorizing. For anyone who doubts that Lynch deserves her Emmy nomination, watch Brennan’s intro and you see that Sue is at least 50 percent Lynch’s delivery. He imagines what Sue would think knowing that an excess of $300,000 was spent to immortalize her, “a tidy sum that spent otherwise could put a dozen inner-city kids through college. Not to mention all that wax that could be better spent tidying up unibrows everywhere or used to snatch up stray pubes from the bikini lines of overweight Slavic women. I think Sue would say, ‘No way, you are going to make me into a statue. Wax me up, bitches!'” (He scored bigger laughs referring to Lynch as “a woman of such cultural importance that everywhere she poops should be made into a national park.”)

P.S. Lynch says we’ll be adding a neon tracksuit to our gallery of Sue Sylvester style in season 2. Can’t wait.

Shouldn’t they want to wait after a few seasons before immortalizing a character like this? It seems pretty ridiculous to me this early in the game. I wisely didn’t see the characters of Heroes immortalized after the first season because it would be an embarrassment after the dismal following seasons.
    Just sayin’.

Totally agree – seems that getting your props in wax is the hot thing – so here is my list for Madame Tussands since they are all so fabulous if they are not already there – Tiger Woods & all his ladies, Jon and Kate with the rat pack 8 kids, Real Housewives of Whereever, Jersey sHOres, Lindsay Lohan, Lady Gag-me. More later as I think about it

I think it would be preemptive if she made wax statues of all the characters, but Sue Sylvester is a strong, hilarious, memorable character no matter the quality of the episode.

…and FOX continues the burnout/overexposure of yet another hit show….

ANYONE can get a Tussaud’s wax figure and a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame. It’s become meaningless.

The former, yeah, but I dunno about the latter.

Love Jane Lynch, but I agree – a little premature. Just like when EW named the character in as one of the top TV characters of the last 20 years. Like number 20 or something. Really??? Let’s have a few more seasons first.

I would like it more if it was Jane Lynch getting her own wax statue, not a character that’s been around for 1 season.

  • Bobby’s Robot

I agree it might be a little premature, especially as it refers to a relatively new character, but it’s nice to see a talented actor who has worked their way up through the ranks by always being good in various projects, and by being a decent person offscreen, get this type of recognition, as opposed to the socialite / housewife / addict / pop tart of the week. And sorry for the run-on sentence.

Yep. Totally premature. What’s next, a lifetime achievement Oscar for RPattz?

  • gleefan_01

they should make wax figures of the whole entire glee cast!
