'Chronicles of Narnia: The Voyage of the Dawn Treader' teaser-trailer. Interested?

Hollywood is going back into the closet yet again. The first adaptation of C.S. Lewis’ famous children’s adventure epic,  2005’s The Chronicles of Narnia: The Lion, the Witch and the Wardrobe — in which English kids stepped through an armoire and into a magical world of talking lions — was a huge hit, grossing nearly $300 million domestically. The second, 2008’s, The Chronicles of Narnia: Prince Caspian, was such a disappointment, grossing only $141 million, that Disney announced it was shelving plans for a third sequel. Enter 20th Century Fox, which will be picking up the series with The Chronicles of Narnia: The Voyage of the Dawn Treader. And here, Popwatchers, is the first teaser trailer for that film. Take a look and let us know if there’s any interest in yet another return trip to Narnia.

saw the first trailer in theaters and was pretty pumped – the elder kids are returning? sweetness. shame disney didn’t stay with it – thought it made good money overseas….

fantastic c.s lewis novel one of the best, can’t wait and that’s just me, the children are overcome with joy.

unless they addressed the poor/over acting of the leads, the latest installment will be just as bad as its predecessors. prince caspian was an utter embarrassment.

  • Crystal

I am so in. These were some of favorite books in childhood and I thought the first two movies were beautifully done.

Why does everything big budget have to go the way of 3-D now?

    • LibbyP

Boo for 3-D. Not a fan.

    • Liz

I’m with the anti-3D crowd. I don’t get it. I am not a fan. If I wanted something 3D popping out of a screen I’d go to a play.

  • BW

As long as Ben Barnes isn’t in this one, I think we’ll be OK…

    • LibbyP

IMDB says he’s in as King Caspian.

  • harry

    I can’t wait!!!!

    More money?
    Ron Burgundy?…

I read these books when I was a kid and was really excited when they started making the movies. I loved The Lion, The Witch, and The Wardrobe. Prince Caspian may not have been as good, but it was still enjoyable and entertaining. I think it was a mistake to release it in May. These films just feel like they are “holiday” movies, not summer movies, and I’m glad Voyage of the Dawn Treader is coming out in December. If the other books are indeed made into films, I hope they continue to release them during the holiday season. I’m definitely looking forward to seeing this one.

Dude, there was nothing they could’ve done to make “Caspian” better; the source material was a bit lacking in the Plot department and the writers had to add something somewhere…and they decided to go heavy on the cheese as it IS a family franchise and probably thought raunchy humour a bit out of place… Treader was a much better book with more meat to it. This is going to be good fun, and the changes they seem to be making are fine to me. Have you read what happens *SPOILER AHEAD SPOILER* …with Susan? Unfair!

      • josh

        what happens to susan????

    • Felicia

Prince Caspian wasn’t as good Wardrobe but I agree with you that it should be a holiday movie rather than a summer one. May was REALLY bad time to release it.

    • Jeanie

Agree. Releasing it in the summer is a big reason that the movie didn’t do as well.

is there a way I can see this without the tacked-on 3D? and is Peter Dinklage in this one?

    • Dave

Yes. You always have the choice of seeing movies in regular 2D, no matter how much they advertise the film being in 3D.
And as far as I know, Peter Dinklage will not be in this film.

This was my favorite Narnia book and I was so disappointed when I thought they weren’t going to make anymore. So glad to hear it’s coming out after all!

  • rebecca

of course i am interested!! i love the Narnia movies. kind of sad that Disney isn’t funding it anymore. it is just because the last movie didn’t do as well because it came out the weekend right before Indy 4. everyone forgot about Narnia and all went to see Indy. Narnia 2 was better than Narnia 1, but not as many people went to see it!!

  • Tye-Grr

    Meh.

  • Lauren

Looks pretty good, but I’m not entirely sure why Peter and Susan are there. Hopefully that’s their only scene in the movie and they just included it in the trailer for continuity with the other films.

    • Dave

I assume Peter and Susan only have a small cameo in the film. I hope it’s not more than that, seeing as how they were only mentioned in the book and not physically present.

  • Briana

This looks way better than Prince Caspian! Dawn Treader is my favorite book in the series.

  • Carrie

Heck, yeah! I loved these books when I was a kid, and the trailer I saw in the theater looked great.
