And sometimes those twisty journeys lead to pure Internet gold, which is what happened when I found myself on the IMDb entry for Flashdance this afternoon and discovered what I believe is a new high (low?) in IMDb keyword categories: Female to Male Foot in Crotch. There are 146 titles! You’re welcome, fetishists!
This set off a quest to discover more strange or delightfully weird categories, like “reference to Calvin Coolidge” (a mere two entries), “sole black character dies cliché” (62 entries), “science runs amok” (77), “friends who hate each other” (39), “sitting on toilet” (31), “long tongue” (47)… and yet nothing could top that foot-in-crotch list.
Prove me wrong, PopWatch nation. Put your web-surfin’ pants on and dig up some better IMDb keywords!
I LOVE the “IMDb” keyword feature.
“Blue Velvet” is a virtual treasure trove and also yielded my personal favorite, “Non Statutory Female on Male Rape Attempt.” (Which has an astonishing 17 titles.)
Wow! Okay, that’s officially my favorite too.

I remember checking the keywords for 300 once and finding “This Being Sparta”.
I always thought that imdb was one of the greatest sites–*so* handy for those aging brains who can’t remember “that guy…with the hair…from that show”. Now I’m absolutely convinced. That’s fabulously cool and disturbing at the same time.
Wow! I’ve never seen any keywords on there that were that obscure.
I have in the past laughed at It’s a Wonderful Life keyword “Inexperienced Praying” and The Good, the Bad and the Ugly keywords “Masculine Character with Female Name” and “Nude with a Gun”
Interesting. Making fun of someone shows up as an episode of “So You Think You Can Dance.” lol.

For a while they had that “works with” category which was horrifying because it totally took the fun out of surfing imdb for hours at end. IMDb is like the greatest thing on earth. If the internets should be remembered for one thing, it’s this.
