It’s like a hidden gem on the DVR! As I sit here struggling to decide whether to record Erin Andrews’ first segment about stalking on Good Morning America or Saved by the Bell‘s “Pipe Dreams,” I just want to let everyone know. TBS: 8:30 a.m. ET. SBTB: Poignant as always. Truly ahead of its time.
For a refresher course on “Pipe Dreams,” breeze through Buzzfeed’s 12 Things I Learned From The ‘Saved By The Bell’ Oil Spill Episode and an amazing mashup between “Pipe Dreams” and There Will Be Blood called There Will Be Bell. All together now: “Stop the drilling! Stop the oil!” Becky the Duck!
This concludes today’s PopWatch PSA.

noooo Becky!! That was so sad.
I know
Until this exact moment I’d forgotten about Becky the duck. DAMN YOU BARRETT!
When the oil spill first happen, I thought of this episode immediately
I’m just the opposite–didn’t think of it until I saw this article–duh! Wow. SBTB was sure creating timeless television episodes back in the early ’90s, weren’t they? (Ha.) Kudos to the writer or showrunner who conceived of this storyline. I’m sure he or she has felt vindicated over the past couple months!
i was totally thinking of this episode right off the news. and that duck. oh the thought of all the becky the ducks that were killed cause of BP especially made me think
I know this is sad, but so did I. Saved by the Bell is pretty much ingrained in my memory though. When I took the SATs I kept thinking, “Jessie did bad on the SATs and Zack did great. I cannot be like Jessie!” Was a total caffeine pill moment.
Me too Shannon!!
This episode just reflects current events in the early 90s. A little news item called Exxon Valdez. Unfortunately, history repeats itself.
The Malibu Sands episodes were better.
I caught it when it was on a few weeks back, and it has yet to leave my DVR. I can’t bring myself to delete it. The BP officials should be forced to watch it on a loop.
I like the categories under Annie’s by-line. “Horrifying but Hypnotic” could be attached to several SBTB eps, including the best one of all time “Jessie’s Song”.
I’M SO EXCITED! I’M SO EXCITED! I’M SO – SCARED!
I was so going to write that and you had to be a genius and beat me to it….props.
p.s. Jesse Spano has a nice vagina
Well I just rewatched this episode online and even though it was still as cheesy as I remember it… there was something very poignant and touching about its message. Especially watching it at an age where I can understand there was more to it than just the pretty duck dying at the end.
I think Dennis Haskins is gazing lovingly into Mark-Paul’s eyes…
Why didn’t the oil slick wipe away this annoying gang of teenagers before they became annoying adults?
Stop the shouting give me a kiss!
LOL!!!!
i recently dvr’d the episode when zack discovers his american indian heritage…touching stuff. also recorded zack and kelly breaking up and i have a feeling that will be a permanent fixture on my dvr. i now find myself scrolling through the week and checking out the subject matter for each saved by the bell episode. i wish i could call a time out and not go to work every morning to watch all these episodes that i have already seen so many times.
Dorks.
ok i am officially reverting back to the 90′s. watching SBTB and listening to celine dion… is this because i’m hitting 30 next month????
I miss my duck
