Bruce Willis and Sigourney Weaver to team up for 'The Cold Light of Day'

Finally, John McClane and Ellen Ripley will meet on screen. But it’s not Die Hard With an Alien. Rather, The Hollywood Reporter says that Bruce Willis and Sigourney Weaver will join forces for The Cold Light of Day, an international kidnapping thriller that would have Weaver serving as the villain. Adding to the appeal is the casting of The Tudors‘ Henry Cavill as the man whose wife and children are kidnapped. (Willis, meanwhile, would play his father.) But it’ll be fun to see two of the 1980s’ top action heroes share the screen, even if they’re not on the same side.

Any chance to see the great Sigourney Weaver on screen is a welcome one. Probably the most underrated and underappreciated actress of her generation. Denied an Oscar over and over again – where were the nods for A Map of the World, Death and the Maiden, The TV Set, even Avatar or Galaxy Quest, and countless others. Brilliant in Prayers for Bobby, Gorillas in the Mist, Working Girl, Alien films, et al. and of course on stage as well where she, like all accomplished actors, began and returns. Always compelling, bold, and thoughtful in her work. Come to think of it the last underrated, underappreciated actor I championed went on to Oscar glory (yay Jeff Bridges!). Maybe The Cold Light of Day can shine a spotlight on Ms. Weaver.
