This whole article just feels like a bunch of sour grapes to me. Breakaway may be a better movie, but the fact that you said that you can actually quote Pee Wee’s Big Adventure seems to indicate that it has more cultural significance then Breakaway.
“Breaking Away” is one of the greatest movies ever made about so many thyings: cycling, blue collar life, being a man, learning that your idols have feet of clay, etc. Script Magazine did a great article on it a couple of years ago.
“Pee Wee” is a fun movie, but “Breaking” is a great movie.
Breaking Away is one of my favorite movies ever. It’s wonderful.
Some of the movies on the list….makes you wonder what qualifies. ET and The Muppet Movie (Kermit on the bike? C’mon!) seem like they’d qualify more than some on the list.
Rad should be on there but why the hate for American Flyers? It was a decent movie. Never saw Breaking Away so I cannot say, but Pee Wee was awesome.
