'The Real Housewives of New Jersey': Your chance to own some of Teresa Giudice's classiest things

Teresa-GiudiceImage Credit: Luigi Costantini/BravoItems from the home of The Real Housewives of New Jersey star Teresa Giudice will be up for auction on Aug. 22 at 12 p.m. EST, People reports. Claims of financial trouble had surrounded Teresa and husband Joe for months, and the couple officially filed for bankruptcy in June in hopes of a “fresh start.”

A list of what’s for sale can be found on the auction house website, and includes items like this suit of armor, a 20-foot jet boat, and a grand piano. (Great, but where’s the chinchilla?).

After learning the truth about their financial status, watching this season of the show gives you the feeling that the Giudices may have been living beyond their means for some time. Everything from Teresa bragging about her recently finished “$5 million home,”  to the extravagant birthday party for their daughter, and the “Swarvoski crystal explosion” decor of their housewarming party (handled by the memorable — and probably expensive — party planner,  Elvira) makes you scratch your head in retrospect. Recent episodes have hinted at the troubled situation, including Danielle’s claims of foreclosure, which led to a country club brawl and a now-infamous hair pull. The news of the auction also comes hours before tonight’s new episode, in which Teresa hopes for “diamonds, and diamonds, and diamonds” for their 10th anniversary (but not the Crown Jewels, what do you think she is, Arabic?), while husband Joe struggles with the idea of splurging “in these times.”

Teresa and Joe are not the first Housewives couple to have their finances dissected on the reality show and in the media. Orange County’s Lynne and Frank Curtin were evicted last season. (Who could forget their lovely daughters Raquel and Alexa flipping the camera the bird when the eviction notice arrived?) Hopefully the auction will help the Giudices sort things out, but because the Real Housewives franchise was created under the premise of wealth and luxury, with the idea that these women lived fabulous lives us viewers would never have, could they be removed from the cast if their financial situation does not improve? (Bravo and Guidice have not immediately responded to EW’s calls for comment.) Is that fair? Would you miss Teresa’s quick wit and adroit social commentary, as well as her Paterson roots?

Keep your head up Teresa, and remember: Money can’t buy you class. Is there anything of Teresa and Joe’s that catches your eye, PopWatchers?

I don’t feel bad for Teresa. She made her bed, but hopefully, Bravo will take the opportunity to add a little reality to their show and document her situation. It would be pretty interesting to watch her explain her lies and lifestyle! And a hell of a lot better than dealing with Danielle’s craziness.

Thanks for throwing the money can’t buy you class. Now that song is going to be stuck in my head for the next 3 months. “‘Money can’t buy class, money can’t you classss, elegance is learneddddd my friendss. Elegange is learned.” I’m taking the rest of you down with me. ;p

    • Madd

You don’t have to tell me twice. Every time I see the words money, class/classy, buy, or even friends this song gets stuck in my head.

    • CJ

LOL, thanks for passing that on!

  • Kathie

teresa and joe im so sorry for your troubles but keep your heads up you will be back on top in no time.I love you guys& your girls are beautiful!GOOD LUCK

You should be thankful you got away with everything you did before you were STUPID enough to brag and go psycho every time someone mentions the house going into foreclosure that you automatically prove yourself to be lying about everything. You did it to yourself. I really thought Theresa was harmless, but when she started the chicken neck thing and then bragged about coming from PATTERSON (for those of you who don’t know the town look it up and read all about it I changed my opinion. Stop hiding all your assets and start telling the truth or you and your family will be in a whole lot of trouble and while you and hubby are in jail you wouldn’t want your kids to go back to family in Patterson and be raised there.

I agree with you: they better file an amended petition and disclose all items/furniture/possessions etc., before it is too late. The federal bky., laws are clear: if you hide anything you can be charged with criminal fraud and perjury since the very signing of the petition includes a penalty under oath clause to tell the truth. Bankruptcy judges have special masters and accounting investigators who will scrutinize to the last penny and if the figures don’t add up the U.S. Attorney will file charges. Of course Teresa will blame it on Joe and will pretend she knows nothing, but know one thing Teresa: Ignorance is not a recognized defense in a court of law: you signed the petition too, and you will be held accountable.

Yes what was all that about Patterson? Being a West Coastie, I wasn’t really clear on what she was implying. It sounded like a threat or a warning. Anyone??

      • lola

Ann, let me put it this way..to say you’re from Paterson, is to say that you’re from Compton.

      • Lance

Compton? I remember Compton when I was very young. It’s not a place where you want to get stranded with a flat tire. Let your imagination take it from there.

    • marylynn

Hahaha! Patterson is nothing like Compton. Everyone from NJ cracked up when she said that. Is it a great place to live? No but its nothing like Camden, Nework or Trenton. It’s not some place that you really feel like your going to get jumped/mugged walking to your car. It has some really awesome places to eat.

      • LC

My fiancee and his family are from Paterson and it’s nowhere near as bad as Trenton or Camden. Whenever we visit I never feel threatened. Maybe to someone with Theresa’s wealth that’s the toughest spot on the east coast!

      • nancy

Teresa just meant that being from Patterson means she is no pushover, she knows the deal, that’s all. She didn’t mean Patterson is dangerous– the people are more down to earth, just like she is and some are “tough as nails.”

  • NanCeE*

I really think you should change the title of the article and spell “classiest” with a K. The suit of armor KILLS me! Who buys that? I mean, we all know it’s not an ACTUAL suit of armor, it’s some overpriced Pottery Barn-ish version of a suit of armor. Klassy! Too funny!

  • Rico Petrocello

Dammit…..Money can’t buy you class, money can’t buy you class…elegance is learned, my friend…elegance is learned………stuck in my head!!!!!

  • SeattleGirl

I wouldn’t buy one thing from this crazy lady. Just keep pumping out kids and overspending .. hopefully Bravo cancels the NJ Housewives (the worst of the franchise) and Teresa has to live her husband’s pizza parlor!!

  • gina

    Karma baby!!! Ha ha!

  • Susan

Thanks Liz, now that song is in my head. LOL

  • PATinNJ

In these times, filing for bankruptcy is probably the best for them. Danielle shouting about the foreclosure is funny because if you look up her house on the website, you will see it is COURT ORDERED SALE and Danielle does not live in the classy town Teresa, Jacqueline, Caroline live in Danielle lives in Wayne/Passaic County not nearly as nice as Bergen County

    • Junie

Ha! Know your facts. Theresa lives near a freeway! LOL!

    • marylynn

Are you from NJ? Wayne is a really nice area with a lot of money. I could also say Bergen County isn’t nearly as nice as Morris County.

  • tonya perez

This is the only post of yours that is intelligible.

  • duranmom

She has to sell her stove? I’ve never heard of that… Most of their stuff is tacky and cheap looking….I wouldn’t buy a thing. Sorry Theresa.

  • ann

I measured the distance (using the map legend) from the house itself to the I287 freeway – 26 yards!!!! LOL

    • nancy

So what! At least she has a home.
