Mia Wasikowska — I had thought this after seeing her in Alice in Wonderland. Glad to see she is in the running now!

  • aby

I still think Summer Glau would be perfect for this role.

  • Carolyn

THANK GOD MULLIGAN IS OUT! She isn’t badass looking. I like Jena Mallone, Emily Browning & Evan Rachel Wood. if Kristen Stewart could act..her looks would be a great Lisbeth.

    • La

      Evan Rachel Wood, intriguing idea.

  • sandra

I think Kristin Bell would be great too — but she needs to go back to her season 1 look on Veronica Mars — more tough.

    • Josh Emerson

That’s what I’m saying. Kristen Bell FTW!

    • Liz Lemon

Kristen Bell is completely wrong! Have you people read the books at all????

      • Ellie

Have you watched the first season of Veronica Mars?

      • Liz Lemon

@Ellie: I saw the first episode. Kristen is a talented actress, but she’s not dark enough for a role like this. Even if they change her appearance, I just don’t see it.

  • Jennifer

No one because America should not be doing their own version. I’m sorry but any other version but the original Swedish is going to suck.

    • @Jennifer

Wow, with that psychic ability, you should play the lottery.

    • Annette

People it’s based on a book not a damn movie so if America want’s to make a movie with American actors so be it!

  • Martin Haro

The actress in the Swedish films isn’t an ingenue, so how about Evangeline Lilly?

  • A

    Two words…KRISTEN BELL

  • Jane

They have already made an excellent movie.

  • Jane

    How about Juliete Lewis?

  • Bob

Michelle Williams all the way. She is petite and is a brilliant actress.

    • Jen

Ooh–interesting! I wanted Mulligan, and the rest of these suggestions don’t ring true to me, but Williams could do it.

  • rayme

    Nora Zehetner. Tanya Fischer.

  • MartinSA

I’d say Allison Scagliotti from Warehouse 13 might be able to pull the role off. Of course, she is playing a similar character that is less intense and more vocal, but I think she can pull it off considering how she was in Drake and Josh.

  • Kim

I think Dakota Fanning could pull this off nicely.

    • anonymous

      Too Young.

    • Liz Lemon

No she wouldn’t. Dakota is too commercial for a film like this. Now her sister, Elle, would fit right in if she were a few years older. I can see her playing young Harriet.

  • BC

How about Delphine Chanéac from Splice?

    • Garrett

OMG that would be awesome i cant wait to see her in more movies and she would be great for Lisbeth!

  • Diane

I read the books after seeing Adventureland. I pictured Kristen Stewart as Lisbeth the whole time. To me, KS has exactly the build and look of Salander.

    • Garrett

Me too and I think she could pull of the intensity and emotional range to do it!

      • StewyFan

Agree with both of you. I don’t see why people are saying that she couldn’t do this. The traits of the character are suited to Kristen perfectly.
She played Joan Jett, for crying out loud. She played a rape victim in Speak. And she plays vulnerability to a T. People need to look beyond Twilight and see what is there.

      • Diane

This sounds really stupid as I type it but I swear that Oprah (see? I said that it sounded stupid!!!) knew that KS would be Salander when they were all on for Eclipse. KS said something about how she knew that she would never be a part of a worldwide book phenomen again. And Oprah said not to say that, that it could happen at least once again. Yep. stupid. Sorry!!!

      • Ellie

I like KS in various independent films, but she is overexposed from Twilight.

      • StewyFan

Her being overexposed has what exactly to do with her acting talent?

    • Lilly

      wrong…
      Kristen Stewart is so untalented.
She always plays the same broody character and has no depth or range.
