Kristin Bell! I just watched the Swedish version and Noomie Rapace actually looks a lot like Kristen Bell. She’s petite like Lisbeth and she looks great with black hair (watch Fanboys). She’s also got the attitude.
I just read another post where someone suggested Archie Panjabi, the ‘Kalinda’ character on The Good Wife TV series. Thought it would be brilliant casting.
Kristen Stewart should play Lisbeth Salander. She would be perfect, and the next best would probably be Ellen Page…..Kristen Stewart was the girl that I envisioned while reading the books!
I like the idea of Eliza Dushku actually.
How about Aubrey Plaza?
All of the people who keep saying Christina Ricci….have you read the book? Lisbeth is flat chested and boyish. Ellen Page doing a sex scenes would freak me out. Evan Rachel Wood is the right choice for this film. But….it will either be Rooney….wrong physically….or the French actress, because she’s French and we seem to value foreign actresses over American. It’s cool I guess? I think they’re both wrong physically. Wood won’t shy away from the subject matter and she’s a black belt already.
i already know the rmake is going to suck ass. like all american remakes. can i get a witness?
Though I am not AT ALL a fan of the Full Moon/Eclipse series, Kristen Stewart is the only name mentioned who I can imagine replacing the superb Rapace. Love Ellen Page as an actress but she is too emotionally accessible and expressive without even trying, which makes her so wonderful. (though I have not seen Hard Candy). Stewart has that distant flat delivery which Salander displays that makes it so difficult for the other characters in the story to interact with her. Her voice and face telegraph very little about her which I think Stewart actually can do very well. Though I hear the director is looking for an actress younger than 25, it is asking a lot of so young an actress to be able to portray the emotional subtext needed while at the same time maintaining the extreme control and self possession that we identify with Salander. I think Daniel Craig an EXCELLENT choice. After all, in the book Blomqvist gets a lot of “play”, and the Swedish actor, while absolutely fabulous in the role, did not strike me as the kind of man that women would throw themselves at, which seems to happen to “Kalle Blomqvist” more than he looks for.
Ellen Page is a brilliant actess whose biggest problem might be masking her intelligence enough to make it believable others could perceive Lisbeth to be a moron. Think Jodie Foster in Nell.
I think Live Tyler would be a good pick for Lisabeth. Or maybe even Steven Tyler.

How about Ellen Degenerate?
Avril Lavine!
Samaire Armstrong would be perfect, she is dark and interesting. Not like these “typical girls” mentioned above.
i can envision keira knightly as Salander… her accent might be a problem however…
