To channel Elaine Benes: Get out!
After closing up the small Manhattan soup stall in 2004, the famously brusque New York City soup vendor has reopened his original 100 square foot venue. Though, according to a Reuters report, Al Yeganeh is not a man built for sentimental rituals. He skipped today’s ribbon cutting. And still no soup for Jerry. Yeganeh apparently loathed the fame that came his way following the Seinfeld exposure and banned the comedian from his stall following the episode.
Still, will you visit, PopWatchers? Or will you just pick up an armoire instead?

Mmmm, Mulligatawny!
Haleand hearty is much better and the staff @55th st is great
Great, now we’re going to need Newman (aka The Cleaner) all over again.
I love his frozen soups. Pity I live near Atlanta and not new New York. Seinfeld sucks anyway.
i had no idea he was a “real” guy! that’s so neat! but if he was so unhappy with his appearance on the show, why did he agree to be on the finale?
It wasn’t HIM on the show, but a character based on him. And his soup…
oooooh! thank you for the clarification!
It was an actor playing him on the show, not the actual soup guy.
I love the Original Soup Man shops, I always have a few when I’m in NY, wish we could get soup that good in Sydney!
If it wasn’t for the comments section, I too would have thought that the actor had his own soup stall. I wish the blogger would have clarified this information for the population who don’t live in Manhattan.
I don’t live in the USA and I already knew it was an actor on the show. Don’t blame the blogger for you inability to use google.
Try the guy’s soup if you have the opportunity. The hype happened for a reason. All comedic aspects aside, he is truly a master of soup.
AWESOME!!!
I love the soup, and I love Seinfeld!
Anyone know where the stall is exactly? I’d love to stand in line to try some.
Damn, I was in NYC in the spring and it was still closed. If it was open then I totally would have gone in.
I got his soup when he ladled it into the bowl himself. I won’t go to a store selling reheated factory made stuff. There is no way it has the same quality now that it’s mass produced.
I got a lobster bisque once that had 2 huge lobster claws in the soup. He did not scrimp and it was perfect.
