Happy Birthday Will Ferrell! Keep the laughs coming our way.

Will-FerrellImage Credit: Chris Hatcher/PR PhotosWho doesn’t love Will Ferrell? Who can forget his infamous role as Mugatu in Zoolander or as “Frank the Tank” in Old School? Let’s face it, the actor never disappoints his audience.

So, in celebration of Ferrell’s birthday, why not remember some of the actor’s best moments? At least, that is, my favorite moments.

1. The “battle” between news stations in Anchorman. Will Ferrell, Ben Stiller, Vince Vaughn, Paul Rudd, Steve Carell, Luke Wilson….need I say more?

2. Step Brothers‘ Dale and Brennan making a music video of their song, “Boats and Hoes” on their Dad’s boat…and then crashing it a few minutes later.

3. The return of “Frank The Tank” in Old School. I mean, really, who doesn’t love to see Will Ferrell streaking through the quad? And felt kind of tempted to do it themselves?

4. “Santa! I know him!” Elf, naturally.

5. Mugatu hypnotizing Derek Zoolander in, of course, Zoolander. Highlight: seeing how well Ferrell can pull off the 9-year-old girl look.

PopWatchers, what is your favorite Will moment? Leave your thoughts below and let me know!

First place: “Blue Steel? Le Tigre?! They’re the same look! Does no one else see this, I feel like I’m taking crazy pills!!!”

2nd place: Tie between “Buddy the Elf, what’s your favorite color?” and his “Baby It’s Cold Outside” duet with Zooey Deschanel.

3rd place: “I immediately regret this decision,” from “Anchorman” – that one gets used by me all the time.

    • Madd

I quote Anchorman at least once a day.

    • LOL

      Ricky Bobby! Ron Burgundy!

    • Dede

My first place is the skit he did on SNL where Neil Diamond (Ferrell) and Bigfoot (Duane “The Rock” Johnson) were selling their duets album. I also could quote Anchorman and Talladega Nights every day.

    • Josie

He’s currently starring in Big Brother, on CBS. http://twitpic.com/265pgn

  • SarahW

Oh lord, there are so many. I second the anchorman battle from Anchorman. Also: the dinner grace scene in Talladega Nights “I like the baby Jesus best” ec., wrestling the bear in Semi Pro “if you have a small child, use them as a shield! They love the tender meat!”, at the end of Stepbrothers: “It’s ok that mine’s not movie quality”. And “IS EVERYONE TAKING CRAZY PILLS!” plus pretty much every other one of his scenes in Zoolander.

Will Ferrell and his contemporaries epitomize everything that is wrong and depressing about American comedy films today. Absolutely awful.

    • cripsy

I don’t get what anyone has against him. Sure, some of his movies hang out in the stupid section, but jeez Garry (two r’s…what?) lighten up!

    • UGH

      Agreed, Garry.
Throw the unfunny Tina Fey under that same bus.

      • TerryT

I agree with you, Garry. I remember sitting behind a couple of twenty-somethings at a theater when a Will Ferrel movie trailer came on. He: “I want to see that.” She: “I don’t do Will Ferrell.” Like so many “stars” these days, his fans are all immature males.

    • sharon

      boo you! go away!!!

  • claudenorth

“Who doesn’t love Will Ferrell?” Me, for one.

    • cripsy

      You too!

      • dipshat

crispy’s right (for once!)lighten up! But what is up with ‘hang out in the stupid section’ bit!

      • Madd

Are you real crispy, or are you the crispy that posts about Justin Bieber everywhere?

      • dipshat

        Justin Bierber! JB! J-B-Baby!

    • ILoveDick

I do not love Will Farrell.

    • pastafarian

      Obey my dog!

    • Kathy

I can’t stand this guy…he’s the UNFUNNIEST “comedian” around. I refuse to see a movie if he’s in it.

      • YUCK

I’m making a point to talk to Hollywood to make sure he is in all the movies so nobody ever has to see your gross face in a theater, you dummy

    • Michael Tx

Cannot stand him, and will not watch anything he is in. It is the same lame childish crap over and over again. Nothing fresh.

      • Sue1

Like most actor/comedians he can be very funny, and also very repetitive and downright painful to watch…see Adam Sandler. To me, anyway.

  • mclovin4893

As much as I love the guy, I mean Land of the Lost also sucked too. He went downhill after 2006 Talladega Nights (SHAKE AND BAKE CAL).

  • Fluffy Fingers

I think “Blades of Glory” is an underrated Ferrell movie that is actually one of my favorites. It’s an SNL skit at best, but he (and the rest of the cast) takes it seriously and plays it straight and manages to stretch the joke out for an entire movie. But other than that, the guy will do anything for a laugh and for the most part has succeeded with his roles more than failed (“Bewitched” and “Land of the Lost” notwithstanding).

    “Ma! The meatloaf!”

    • Karen

      Ha! Wedding Crashers!

  • amj

I am definitely a huge fan of Mugatu, Elf and the majority of his SNL work! And, I completely agree Blades of Glory is hysterically funny and very underrated.

    • info

Glad to see he is a Cancer like me.

  • Andy B

Claude, she obviously meant people who aren’t choads.

    • Suntrap

I miss using choad as an insult. Thanks for the reminder Andy B.

    • claudenorth

Jaclyn Roth asked a question, and I answered it. If you can’t deal with opinions that are different than yours, then stay off the Internet.

  • California

Mugatu is my favorite WF role. He is superb in it. I can’t always watch all of his movies (stepbrothers, ricky bobby I can only watch once in a while). Zoolander and Anchorman are fantastic though.

  • Schottzie

    “Ma! The meatloaf!”

  • BeBe

Why must people be negative on this blog?? ANYWAYS…The whole Anchorman movie was the best! Happy Birthday! I love me some Will Ferrell!

  • Rebecca

I’ll admit to some serious love for Stranger Than Fiction…

  • Madd

I never get the hate for Will Ferrell-Land of the Lost may not of been great, but I think he’s hilarious (and pretty good at drama if he ever wanted to switch).
“I’ll never call him ‘Dad’, even if there’s a fire!”
“I invented the piano key necktie, I invented it!”
    “They’re break dance fighting.”
    “Hansel…so hot right now.”
“The arsonist has oddly shaped feet.”
“I wanna be on you…wait! I wanna be on you…”
“I love scotch. Scotchy, scotch, scotch. Here it goes down, down into my belly…”
“Oh Baxter, you are my little gentleman. I’ll take you to foggy London town…” (I have actually sang this to my dogs-replacing Baxter with Gobias and/or Lenny).

    • deedee

“Speak English Baxter. You know I don’t know Spanish!”

  • Ricki

    “This toilet is ginormous!”

  • Bonnie

I don’t dislike Will Ferrell, but I don’t find him funny at all, and avoid movies he is in.
