Angelina Jolie coming to Comic-Con

saltImage Credit: Andrew SchwartzAngelina Jolie will be in San Diego a week from today to promote Salt at Comic-Con, the Hollywood Reporter’s Heat Vision blog has confirmed. Obviously, the woman has cred having starred in Lara Croft: Tomb Raider and Wanted, and with its masked identity theme, Salt is a movie that should appeal to the convention crowd. Jolie, as THR notes, is one of the few women who can open an action film. My question: Be honest. What kind of movie are you more likely to pay to see Angelina Jolie star in: An action flick or a straight drama? I’m not ashamed to say my favorite performance of hers is Mr. & Mrs. Smith (and that I’m totally hoping for a sequel), but I’m not necessarily proud that I haven’t actually seen anything in which she wasn’t wielding a large weapon since Girl, Interrupted.*

*I would have broken that streak if The Tourist wasn’t “an international spy thriller” because it co-stars Johnny Depp.

I imagine the fanboys are going to wet themselves over this!

To be fair, I like her in everything she stars. I think her dramatic roles are way better though. In my opinion, A Mighty Heart has been her best performance to date. The thing about her is that she pours herself into the character and becomes the character. When I saw The Good Sheppard, I felt horrible for her character. It seemed to be so full of life at the begining of the movie and so dead and miserable at the end. I actually hate Matt Damon for what he did to her in the movie. Anyhow, she is a great actress. I go and see just about everything that she stars in. I know that on the 26 of July(I know it’ a Monday), my friends and I have all cordinated to have the day off so we can go watch SALT.

Angelina’s been to Comic-con before, promoting Tomb Raider. So it’s no big deal. as far as what I like to see her in, it’s definitely action. I don’t think I’d ever pay to see her in a straight drama.

Yeah, but back then she wasn’t A+ list actress that everyone seems want a piece of her like now.

      I’ll be in my cabin.

She really is a great action star. Her recent dramas haven’t grabbed me (A Mighty Heart was decent, but Changeling turned out to be a disappointment, in my opinion), but I’ll definitely be seeing Salt on opening weekend.

    Hey, I adores Madameoiselle Jolie…

As my son goes, “mom, you love her”!

    • LOL

I agree, if I was a women, she would turn me in to a lesbian

      • Ruby

My friend Mandy always says Jolie is the only woman she would cross teams for LOL.

      • jillyro

My hubby always teases me when he sees her by saying “there’s your girl” as I too would switch teams for La Jolie! Love her in drama or action, in anything, I’m there.

      • Jen

I love her, it would be way cool if she was my best mate, :)

Hey, I am a heterosexual female who adores Madamoiselle Jolie…

As my son goes, “mom, you love her”!

And like her, I am a single mom too :)

Well, I remember when she showed up to promote TOMB RAIDER 2 and eventhough the place was packed, she wasn’t really as huge of a draw.. although I do have to say that in person she does have such striking beauty..

  • Don

She was fantastic in CHANGELING, and the movie was great, too. Totally worth checking out..

    • jillyro

I loved her in that too. Loved when she was the supervisor who rollerscated around as the supervisor of the phone girls. She is very talented and commits 100% to each of her roles.

  • JD

I like her action films a bit more than the dramatic ones…she has always done the majority of her own stunts (and does them well), and I think it’s pretty kick-ass that she can balance the acting with the physicality of stunt work without cheating either aspect of the character she’s playing.

Mr. & Mrs. Smith is one the worst movies ever, it’s terrible

  • Jen

I think Gia is by far her best movie.

    • Bernice

I love Gia. It might be my fav Angelina movie. It was the first movie I ever saw of her and I was like 13 or 14 and I was like I would so go gay for this woman. I loved everything about that movie. Oh I guess mr and mrs smith, wanted and gone in 60 seconds(I know for me its so bad its good) are my other favs.

  • Get real

Do people understand what a fanboy is? I doubt many fanboys will care they are busy checking out the latest news on comics or Dark Knight follow up etc. Most people who are Joile fans are in fact women! it will be the fan girls who see themselves in her blah fainting all over the place. Do people see fanboys running the street after say twilight stars. The only fans who wet themselves are fangurls who are in fact Star-f–kers or women who want to think they can get Brad or believe some 90 pounds when wet female can toss men around a room.

Angelina Jolie is one of the best action hero stars period. She becomes the character and she’s believable. I’ve not seen one of her movies where it is not obvious that she has put her all into it. I will definitely be checking out Salt. Oh and Mr. & Mrs. Smith was fabulous. I, too, am hoping for a sequel. :-)

  • Joanne

She kicks all kind of ass! If SALT becomes a hit, there will be no doubt that she is Holywood’s only female action star. Tomb Raider was a pre-existing, very popular property, Mr. And Mrs Smith was helped by the Brangelina scandal/buzz, and Wanted was also a very popular graphic novel, but Salt will be her true box office drawing power test: An original property, not a sequel, not based on a comic, or a video game or a book, and not fueled by any behind the scenes scandal,it will fall or rise based on Angelina’s shoulders.

    • Steven C

She already is Hollywoods only action star…who else is there besides her and Christian Bale.

      • B-

        Will Smith.

      • Jen

        Rock “the Duane” johnson :)

  • Bettlejuice

Why is everyone acting like it’s her first time there? I met her at SDCC when they premiered Sky Captain, along with Jude Law. I never liked her much, or thought she was that good looking, until I met her! She was very nice and outgoing, and I came away thinking she was actually amazingly attractive! Jude Law tho, was stoned!

    • musica1

She was promoting Sky Captain? I thought her appearance in 2003 or 2004 (forget which) was for Tom Raider.

  • Me

Ugh…I wish I was going to comic con now.
