Micky Dolenz joins Debbie Gibson and Tiffany's 'epic battle' Syfy movie. Who's next?

80s-starsImage Credit: Steve Granitz/WireImage.com; Neilson Barnard/Getty Images; John M. Heller/Getty ImagesMicky Dolenz — former Monkees member, Hollywood character actor, and the voice of Snuggle the Fabric Softener Bear — will co-star in Debbie Gibson and Tiffany’s original Syfy movie ‘Mega Python vs. Gatoroid’. I love how “Debbie Gibson and Tiffany’s original Syfy movie Mega Python vs. Gatoroid” is a legit informational entertainment news clause at this point. Oh, of course. That. Mega Python vs. Gatoroid is set for sometime in 2011 and will hopefully be viewed and cherished by more than just the EW staff and a few hundred other nerds.

According to THR, it’s not known what Dolenz’ role will be, so it’s anyone’s guess who will join this motley crew next. I’m pulling for a cameo from The Snuggle Bear and maybe Michael Bolton as someone’s skeezy older brother. And I don’t think anyone would mind a scene where Paula Abdul randomly wanders in, just so everyone can say “Hey, Paula” and then return to their regularly scheduled programming.

PopWatch readers’ initial suggestions included Pat Benetar, Annie Lennox, the Wilson Sisters, Lita Ford, and “Terri Nunn from Berlin vs. Nena.” Who else deserves a place in this epic TV movie?

There can be only one choice: Meatloaf.
Besides, aren’t “Gatoroids” the kind of thing Michael Jordon gets from too much desk work?

Ah, let’s see ..I’ve always had flat feet, but after my frahsmen year of college I had to have surgery on one of my feet. So now I have one flat foot and one not. I was born in Germany, but I am completely an American citizen. How’s that?

Or he could play himself and it could be him vs. Ringo. It’s not as if Ringo hasn’t done truly bad movies before.

And he was also the voice of Arthur on The Tick for at least one of the seasons. Didn’t know about the Snuggle bear though.

Here’s a suggestion: instead of watching this thing, get a real movie with real actors from Netflix, or read a book. I actually liked Tiffany & Debbie Gibson in the late 1980’s, but that doesn’t mean I want to waste two hours of my life now watching them mug their way through some campy, throwaway flick. When there are so many excellent films and novels out there you haven’t yet experienced, wasting precious time on pointless garbage like this is something you may one day regret. I bet nobody on their deathbed will ever say, “I wish I had spent my days watching more of those Syfy Channel monster movies with those D-list celebrities from the eighties.”

I’m willing to bet that some people do wish that they had more fun on their deathbeds. To some people, movies like this are fun in a twisted way.

Believe or not, people have the capability of enjoying both “excellent films and novels” and “campy throwaway flicks.” So please take pity on those poor unenlightened fools, such as myself.

I think Adam was bitten by a Gatoroid as a small child.

I know these movies are awful. So awful that I love the you know what out of them. I can’t wait for this movie. I happen to like both Tiffany and Debbie Gibson. I wish things were different for them, but I’m thrilled to get to see them in these cheese-fest movies and hope for more.

I think it’s totally double rainbow. This article made me smile and I will certainly be tuning in for the movie. It might not be an Oscar winning movie but a lot of people will enjoy it. What’s wrong with that?

How busy are Davey Jones, Peter Tork, and Mike Nesmith? Why settle for just one of “The Monkees”?

  • Lady Gaga 4Ever

I’ve never heard of any of these people, therefore they are culturally irrelevant.

I don’t like olives eitehr, woohoo! But I don’t like sushi eitehr. I’ve tried, I promise. On my right hand, my middle finger is the same length as my ring finger. So my index finger is the longest finger on that hand. It’s odd.

Mark Lindsay, the original lead singer for Paul revere & The Raiders, should join the cast. He’s currently touring with Dolenz

Stuart Gossard, aka: Adam Ant. From what I hear he’d be crazy enough to do it.

  • Flyer

Well it simply CAN’T be a monster movie shown on SyFy without having John Rhys Davies in the cast!

    • Cricket

Seconded for John Rhys Davies. I’d like to see David Bowie and Dustin Diamond as well.

  • Nick

YESSSS. EW needs to totally report more on B and C-movies…I’m serious! Mega Shark vs Giant Octopus CHANGED MY LIFE.

  • DOUBLE RAINBOW

Adding Micky Dolenz to this star studded cast is like witnessing a Double Rainbow! I am weeping in joy at the sheer beauty of this casting.

  • California

So weird that there’s a post about Mickey today, while I was getting ready for work I was singing Last Train to Clarksville!

I can’t believe no one’s said it yet, but two words: Gary Busey!

    • orville

For the true C movie experience, it should really be his son Jake instead.

    • aflac

ABSOLUTELY Gary Busey! Funniest thing I’ve read all day! I can see him with his enormous false teeth now! Haaahhhahaaa! Awesome!

      • Saffron

OMG, Gary Busey would rip out Gatoroid’s endocreeeene system!

I have been married for 26 years. I have to say as a nelwywed, you are doing great. My favorite book is The Five Love Languages. I agree of the importance to know your own love language and that of your spouses. I believe I am going to pick up a few of those books. The Bible study sounds awesome!
