David O. Russell quits long-delayed 'Nailed'

jake-jessicaImage Credit: George Pimentel/WireImage.com; Pascal Le Segretain/Getty ImagesWriter-director David O. Russell (I Heart Huckabees) has backed out of Nailed, a political satire/comedy starring Jake Gyllenhaal and Jessica Biel. Russell’s withdrawal was prompted by undisclosed disagreements between him and financier Ronald Tutor, but I feel a journalistic responsibility to present to you the following sentence pairing from THR’s report in all of its (unintentionally?) hilarious glory:

The movie is about a small-town waitress who is shot in the head by a nail gun and later goes to Washington to fight for better health care; there, she meets a clueless congressman, and a romance develops.

“This has been a painful process for me,” Russell told THR on Tuesday.

I’m also excited to report that Nailed is responsible for the creation of popular category “Dude, THAT’S Your Plot?” Yay! It’s fun to flip back in the PopWatch history book and see where your greasy finger lands. But, sorry about the news. The movie is apparently still happening.

And they say Hollywood is out of ideas. ;)

      LOL. Nice.

Doesn’t he have a problem with someone on the set during all his movies?

This project clearly does not have enough angst-y teen vamps and werewolves to hold EW’s interest.

So Jake Gyllenhaal finally is doing a comedy again and they have to throw Biel in as the co-star? Her? Egg? He is streets ahead of her in terms of talent. Couldn’t Russell take her with him?

I call her Jessica Bell because she’s shaped like a…she’s the bell of the ball!

Although I actually thought Jessica Biel was okay in The Illusionist and Easy Virtue.

This movie was filming in my college town of Columbia, SC when I was a senior. Since that time, I have graduated, moved, gotten married and changed jobs twice. I have a feeling this is one of those flicks that is never going to make it to the box office.

Jeez… Is Jake supposed to be the congressman? He is such a fine actor and Jessica has marginal talent – I wish he’d drop out and choose another project.

  • Corey

He “quit” because the movie sucks. He shopped it around for additional financing and nobody would take it.

it is a shame that he is such a D-Bag, because he is talented, “Three Kings” and “Flirting With Disaster” were two of the best films of the 90’s
