On last night’s Late Show, Nicolas Cage took time out of his schedule of promoting The Sorcerer’s Apprentice to tell Letterman about a much more colorful period in his life during which he regularly feasted on magic mushrooms with his best friend/pet cat. “[The cat] ate them voraciously, so I thought what the heck, I better do it with him,” Cage explained. He went on: “I remember lying in my bed for hours and Lewis was on the desk across from my bed and we just stared at each other for hours — NOT MOVING, just staring at each other, and I had no doubt that he was my brother.”
And there you have it: the story that will have me going around saying, “I really like Nic Cage” for at least half a year. I’ll feel pretty lame calling him Nic, but you do what you gotta do. Video below.

I didn’t realize how bad Cage’s money problems actually were until I saw the previews for The Sorcerer’s Apprentice. Yikes.
I just want to know when we’re getting Ghost Rider 2. The first one was so bad, yet I love it and catch it every time it comes on cable. I’m part of the problem, I admit it.

Nic was a really interesting actor before he became an action-star money-wh0re. I wish he’d go back to eating magic mushrooms with his cat so he’d make a good movie again. It used to be that you couldn’t wait to see what Cage was going to do in any given film; now you just wonder how awful the wig they stick on his head will be. Nic, be bald and proud — your toupees are seriously distracting.
