Lunchtime Poll: Candwiches vs. Comic Sans

What a day! The SEC is suing Candwich (sandwich in a can) financier Travis Wright for fraud at the same time that CNN is outraged that Cleveland Cavaliers owner Dan Gilbert had the audacity and 12-year-old-in-1992′s mentality to use Comic Sans in his internet rant against LeBron James. It’s a landmark date in the rich and fetid history of total trash.

I’m having trouble deciding which is the grosser misuse of modern technology — or if either is really that gross, considering I will clearly eat anything and that I only wish my printing was as neat as Lindsay Lohan’s let alone a perfectly uniform albeit incredibly lame-looking font. So I really need your help on this one. Vote below.

It reminds me of Wall E, when their meals were in a cup.

    Triple ugh!

A those candwiches look like the most disgusting things I’ve ever seen! I don’t even think I’m exaggerating. (Apparently, you can open ‘em up like a soda can…no can opener required – that’s classy!)

The use of Comic Sans isn’t gross…it just makes Dan Gilbert sound even more like a baby.

This was really hard because I REALLY hate Comic Sans. But canned sandwiches are just plain gross!

I never understand the dislike for Comic Sans but I like kiddy stuff -bubbles, balloons, candy. If I was 8, I would have begged my mom for a canned sandwich and she would have said no way.

    Comic Sans is clearly grosser.

Thanks for contirbitung. It’s helped me understand the issues.

I am sooooooo confused about the candwich. Is it a drink flavored like a sandwich? Can we mix it with vodka?

    • Ktct

Totally agree. Is it a liquid or a solid?

  • Monty

Had he used papyrus not Comic Sans this may be a close competition. Candwich in a landslide…

If you read the short article linked to Travis Wright being sued by the SEC, it says he also invested in “odd products”. But the odd products in question are not the Sandwich in a Can idea, because that is not an odd product in anyway.

I thought W.A.L.L.E too. This is gross, nevermind the font type. However, on the other hand if a person has a stomach bug or some ailment where they cannot eat whole foods, then the candwich could come in handy.

Sorry people, but I read in another blog and Candwich is not a liquid sandwich. It’s to be a sandwich, in pop-top can (like pringles), that is to be sold in vending machines.

Of course the inventor said it will come out ‘any day now’.

Hmm. So what you’re saying is I’ll have to dip my candwich in a bowl of vodka? Like a French Dip!

      • derek

What’s to stop you from doing that now?

  • dee

    Oh goodness. Canned sandwiches??

  • Stephanie T.

The only way that this idea could possibly work is that the sandwich would have to be freeze dried. The person would then have to add water and stick the sucker into a microwave. Otherwise, it will be stale.

I’m confused… I just read the CNN article. Where is the outrage? I see mockery, but no outrage anywhere in that article. And to be honest, I have to agree with the article that Comic Sans really isn’t the greatest font for something to be taken seriously…
