Kristen Stewart stripper-movie trailer shows more heart than pole

Could Welcome to the Rileys be the first film featuring one of Young Hollywood’s hottest stars as a stripper that isn’t about her wearing nothing onscreen to show that she’s edgy and adult? The trailer, watch it below, gives me hope. A subdued James Gandolfini and Melissa Leo star as parents grieving the death of their daughter in a car accident. He travels to New Orleans on business, stumbles across Stewart’s runaway character in a restaurant, and decides he’s going to get her life on track because she looks like the child he lost. Leo’s character overcomes her stress-induced agoraphobia and eventually follows him to the Big Easy, where she tries to save her marriage, and Stewart from a life on the pole.

I suspect we’ll get at least one scene of Gandolfini and/or Leo watching Stewart on stage, tears in their eyes. But that’s all I need to see. You?

did… you read the article? What you say in your comment is precisely what Mandi Bierly is saying in her post.

You didn’t even have to read the article…all you had to do was read the headline.

I’m so glad Kristen took a chance on this film. I think this & The Runaways will prove that she is talented. This movie looks amazing and I’ll drive the two hours to see it!

Wow sounds like another flop for box office poison Stewart

    • Gabby

It will no doubt flop. Maybe it’s just me, but I thought Stewart was the only bad actor in that trailer.
There’s something about her performances that is so unemotional and disconnected. I just didn’t feel anything from her, despite her battered appearance.
James Gandolfini and Melissa Leo are brilliant though.

Jealous much?…If you guys don’t like her or her movies go and spew your venom somewhere else. Her fans are not interested in your obnoxious, ignorant rants.

People are entitled to their own opinions.
It’s really hard for any actor to look good next to Gandolfini and Leo.

Hey Gabby, what’s your beef w/Kristen. What? She flipped you the bird. Because your statement is stupid. Every film festival this movie has played at, Kristen has been receiving praises. So WTF are you talking about?

      • @K Stew Oscar

Maybe Gabby was talking about her own opinions of the trailer and Kristen Stewart’s acting. I honestly didn’t see any difference from her Riley’s performance than all the other roles she plays.
And where are these praises you speak of?

Looks good. Looks like the stellar Gandolfini we saw (and wasted, really) in The Mexican. Looks like Melissa Leo continues to nail it so effing hard on the head. And looks like Stewart went back to that acting thing she used to do.

  • Anne Marie

Looks amazing. I watched the trailer twice!

  • Dan

agree with the writer-usually starlets do stripper roles to show off their pole skills and their newly toned bod. Kristen looks worse for wear here, brusied and zitty. I think you’re right-she might be the first starlet to play a stripper in a gritty way. I’m interested in seeing how her acting is.

  • Malia

This looks really good actually. Teh premise sounds lame, but then put in the capable hands of Melissa Leo and James Soprano, they make it look really good. Kristen even looks like she’s going to do a good job here.
