‘Boardwalk Empire’ gets premiere date, Laurence Fishburne joins ‘Contagion’

  • Have plans set for Sept. 19? Well, cancel them. Boardwalk Empire, Martin Scorsese’s Prohibition series starring Steve Buscemi, will premiere Sept. 19, the network announced in a press release.
  • HBO has ordered the pilot All Signs of Death, a comedic drama from True Blood creator Alan Ball. The pilot follows a 20-something slacker “who stumbles into a career as a crime scene cleaner, only to find himself entangled with a murder mystery, a femme fatale, and the loose ends of his own past.” [Deadline]
  • Laurence Fishburne will join Marion Cotillard, Matt Damon, Jude Law, Gwyneth Paltrow, and Kate Winslet in Steven Soderbergh’s Contagion, which is about a deadly virus. Like many of Soderbergh’s films, Contagion will have multiple plotlines, one of which I imagine centers on Paltrow, Law, and Damon wondering if they’re back in 1999.  [Variety]
  • Gillian Anderson is set to star in Johnny English Reborn. Because, if there’s a creature more confounding than X-Files‘ Pincus, it’s Rowan Atkinson. [Deadline]

That’s a great cast for Contagion. And yes, The Talented Mr. Ripley reunion is nice too.

  • Mad World

Boardwalk Empire is going to dethrone Mad Men at the Golden Globes.

Yes it is about time we got to see this wonderfull show from such talented people. They all deserve great success because they are talented and on HBO. Even people on other HBO shows are talented and should be given multiple emmys, and oscars, and other great awards to show how talented they are.

Some day I will have to get HBO and check these fancy people out.
