I’ve spent a lot more time zoning out on my couch to the spoof films Epic Movie, Date Movie, Meet the Spartans, and Disaster Movie than I would care to admit. They do tend to feature an awful lot of jokes — even if said gags are of a decidedly uneven quality — and at least one of those movies always seems to be, well, on. And, hey, they’re better than the Twilight films, right? (Note: the opinion of this writer does not necessarily reflect that of Entertainment Weekly as a whole, but can be further investigated in his Eclipse: A Hater’s Guide post.)
Ooh, I feel a nice segue coming on!
That’s right, the guys behind those movies — writer-directors Jason Friedberg and Aaron Seltzer — have turned their attention towards Bella, Edward, and Jacob for the pair’s latest spoof-o-rama, Vampires Suck, which, judging by the new trailer, also takes aim at Jersey Shore and Lady Gaga.
You can see the clip after the break. Take a look and tell us what you think!

I have a feeling this will be terrible. Besides, the best Twilight spoof I’ve seen was made by a bunch of random kids on YouTube.
And hey, there’s that girl from That’s So Raven!
So true. There are many hilarious Twilight spoofs on YouTube. Though, I have to admit, I did laugh when those two fangirls showed up at the end. lol
Agreed, the fangirls were chuckle worthy
Dare I say it, the actors in this spoof are actually BETTER than the ones in the twilight films.
Did anyone else notice that Twilight was the only bad vampire movie they spoofed? Lol.
Much as I love True Blood, it is infinitely spoof-worthy. Sook-eh.
Kill me. Now. Hard.
While the twilight movies do suck, this will suck way more.
Yeah, but the difference is that this movie isn’t exactly asking to be taken seriously, while the Twilight movies are.
Exactly, these movies are purposefully bad. The actors in twilight actually TRY to be good and are delusional enough to promote the movie like they’re proud of it.
I accidentally LOLed.
Am I a bad person?
Nah, I laughed a couple of times too. It’s probably one of those movies where they put all the funny stuff in the trailer, then you get to the movie and realize it an hour later. lol
I laughed a little also i still wont go see it though. Those are probably the funniest scenes in the movie anyway. I’ll wait until it steams instantly through netflix!
Was that Ken Jeong? I thought he was better than this. Sigh.
I found that to be exceptionally disappointing too.
I love that we’re disappointed that the guy whose main claim to fame is running around naked in the desert while showing everyone how tiny his penis is “stooping” to this level.
Well, yes. BUT I think I always tend to think more of him because he’s a doctor – I know it’s irrelevant in terms of his acting career, but I think I just hate to see someone smart doing something so stupid, you know?
And before you point out that the Hangover bit was stupid too, it definitely was – but stupid wrapped up in a top-notch comedy is totally different than stupid wrapped up in a rotten, stinking wreck.
I know, and I agree…I just think it’s funny.
That’s how little we think of these “Movie” movies.
So true. And thanks for haunting me with the image of Ken Jeong’s bitty bit…every time I blink, there it is…
Ewww! I’d rather be forced to watch “Vampires Suck”! (Well…)
Was that a Macho Man impression? “Ooo Yeeeah!”
There hasn’t been a good “spoof” movie in YEARS. All of the ones mentioned above are complete trash.
The last one that was maybe not terrible was ‘Not Another Teen Movie’… and I think that was the 90′s
I actually liked Scary Movie 3…but I agree, there hasn’t been a good spoof in ages.
Spoof??? And here I am thinking that this is a humorous or satirical imitation of a serious piece of literature or writing or something!! [sigh]
I agree. The best thing about old spoof movies is that they actually spoofed GOOD films.
It’s completely hypercritical (or whatever) to make a bad filming spoofing bad movies.
I’m sure there’s a great spoof to be made of the Twilight craze, but these guys are not the ones who’ll do it. Their style is so sloppy and slap dash, it’s badly set up sight gag after another, there’s no dramatic flow to any of their plots, and the “jokes” are facile and utterly predictable. Fart, poop, someone gets hit in the head, a seemingly tough, burly man (or two) all of a sudden act as stereotypically flamboyant homosexuals, a cute, cuddly animal becomes deranged and rabid, various celebrity lookalkes are hit, hit on, or humilliated. fart, poop, lather, rinse, repeat. With no plot, rhyme, or reason. The last spoof film to actually have a semblance of skill was Another Teen Movie, during the nineties.
Sorta funny, definitely a spoof-worthy series…but I think I’ll wait to catch it on cable.
The “Movies” in this film series (Epic, Disaster, etc.) are already horrible, but spoofing the “Twilight” series feels particularly unnecessary seeing as how (as others pointed out) it’s been done to death online.
On the bright side, it looks like these filmmakers spent about as much money as Summitt does on the actual “Twilight” movies.
I laughed out loud a few times during that trailer.. Those movies are so awful though >.>
These spoof movies suck!
Given how much I avoid these films at all costs I must admit I laughed to this trailer more than I thought I would. That’s aside from the fact that I didn’t expect to laugh at all… It’ll probably be aweful as usual. But the ‘Black Eyed Peas’ joke was pretty good.
I wish the people behind this would get an incurable disease. I know its mean, but I’m pulling the “greater good” card. Their films are that bad.
Matt Lanter’s comedic timing in Disaster Movie was great, that’s why they brought him back as Edward Cullen. Yeah, you can watch Disaster Movie now and its already completely dated, but it was funny! Vampires Suck has enough bite to make a killing! (I’ll totally stop…)
are you kidding me!? Matt Lanter can not act, thats why he keeps getting these movies, he’s just a pretty face.
Oh good. Another movie that exists simply to “parody” things that are only slightly amusing and extremely obvious… which is lazy and unfunny. Add in the same character actors from the previous pardoy films (either from some CW show or MADTV) and viola! Another movie that will be extremely dated by the time it’s out on DVD. These movies bomb at the theatres.. why do they keep making them?
