Betty White to pose with young studs and wild animals for 2011 calendar

betty-white-calendarImage Credit: Dave King/Dorling Kindersley/Getty Images; Lane Oatey/Getty ImagesOctogenarian Betty White might be best-known for her role on Golden Girls (and, these days, The Proposal, Saturday Night Live, Hot in Cleveland…the list goes on), but come 2011, you can call her Calendar Girl, BBC News reports. (Note, the “March” image shown at the BBC link originally appeared in the pages of EW.) White, whose career has experienced an epic resurgence, will pose for a 2011 calendar to raise money for the Morris Animal Foundation, a wildlife charity the actress supports. (Say it with us: “Aww!”) When it goes on sale this September, fans of the erstwhile Rose Nylund will be able to hang up pictures featuring White surrounded by animals — and being fed by hunks in bathing suits. Who needs a hunky Twilight poster when you’ve got a Golden Girl, furry animals, and shirtless wonders? (It’s a combination almost as drool-worthy as Tom Selleck, sandwiches, and waterfalls.)

Tell us, PopWatchers, can you think of any other unlikely calendar boys and girls you’d like to on your walls for 12 months? Alec Baldwin perhaps?

UGH Love Betty White, but I think she just became overexposed. Enough already!

      I agree.

    • Ceballos

      Overexposed, literally?

I disagree with previous comments. Betty White has become a risk-taker. She could be a prude or just plain boring. But by taking these surprising roles over the last few years, she has become a model for our elderly generation. What, with her quips, positive smile, and a go-get-’em attitude, she deserves her current success.

Thumbs up to Betty for being seen – too many people write off the elderly – you go girl and kick some booty

    • Zach

      and show some booty too

      ok that was just wrong

Seriously. Lindsay Lohan is overexposed. We need every inch of Betty White to be covered in the news – both literally and figuratively ;) – before she can outplace all the Typical Tabloid Trash and we can call Betty “over”-anything other than overage.

Love her! I am not tired of Betty White. I used to watch her and late husband former game show host Allen Ludden on Password when I was in the second grade. It was back in 1963. I rather see her get some attention than Lindsay Lohan and Sandra Bullock. I am glad that Hot In Cleveland on TV Land is doing well. Betty, Wendie M., and Jane L. are so funny. Hope the writers will continue write some good materials for them. They are doing much better.

I hope Malcolm Gladwell is researching the Betty White phenomenon for his next book or something. I mean, I LOVE Betty White in everything she’s done, but this whole explosion in the past year has been a bit unreal. The same kind of “been in the biz forever, finally hit it big” thing can be said for Jane Lynch as well.

Love Betty White: she is the leading edge of a huge pack of aging baby boomer women who are gonna continue to be smart, sexy and fun!
