'Bachelorette' Burning Questions: Ask Chris Harrison everything you've ever wanted to know!

Chris-HarrisonImage Credit: Bob D'Amico/ABCGoodness knows this season of The Bachelorette has prompted us to wonder a thing or two: How does a suitor sneak off to visit Ali at her house? Or to get a tattoo, for that matter? How’d that conference call with Canada about Justin’s hometown liaison’s come about? Or that Jake and Vienna exit interview? Have the producers ever considered permanently banning guitars? Now’s your chance, Bachelorette fans: Tell us all your burning questions, and we’ll get host Chris Harrison (our very own EW.com blogger!) to answer some of them in next week’s issue of Entertainment Weekly.

Who do you think was telling the truth during the interview; Jake or Vienna?

    • Jackie

I believe Vienna was telling the truth. There was a number of times that Jake Lied right there on film.He claimed he never said or did something and a few minutes later either did the same thing Vienna said he would do to her or would change it back to it all being just her fault but he never said anything substantial to back up what he was saying. She gave names and places, she was not holding back at all.And since when is a PARTNER undermining you. That’s something we would say about children. I liked Jake before and I honestly think he is an abusive ass.

      • Me

I’m not remotely defending Jake, but puzzled by this statement: “And since when is a PARTNER undermining you. That’s something we would say about children.” People tell me about their partners undermining them all the time!

      • Hot Carl

Jackie, I think you’re a vapid twit who doesn’t know what she’s talking about. Of course you’d side with the googly-eyed, narcissistic psycho; you hate ALL men, because none of them find you attractive enough to date. Go back to feeding and caring for your 12 cats. You could also use a refresher course on how to properly use the English language. No way is your IQ above 70.

    • pam

Yes is is a psycho at its best …I do not even watch these crazy shows but as I was turning the tube there was this interview and boy did it remind me of what she is going through…i lived with a mental abuser 25 plus years she is 100 percent right in how and why she carried out this breakup men like that are very very controlling and manipulative…I can say this if chris harrison believes one ounce of what this jerk said I would have to question him also as a mental abuser as they all stick together… This guy should be cut off from all publicity as that is what these type men thrive on ….I honestly believe that if a man is caught mentally abusing or otherwise to their wife or girlfriend they should be took out and castrated they have not the mental capacity to have a relationship so they don’t need their parts either in my book… But it does make you wonder??? What is the parents home life like lol Like parents like child…. He is sick very sick you can just tell by his behavior…

      • Glorianna

From your own words you said that you never watch these “crazy” shows. You just so happened to find the interview with Jake and Vienna. I don’t think you can judge them since you don’t have any idea who they are and where they stand. You sound like a man hater to me! It has already been out today that Vienna was emailing an old boyfriend before the breakup. They have the email she sent and the one he sent back to her. She isn’t a poor little girl. that girl knows her way around! I am not saying that this wasn’t his fault in anyway but we saw Vienna in action during the whole show. I would not be surprised at anything she says or does.

      • Suzi

When you bring up Jake’s parents it really goes to show that you are talking about something you have no clue!! His parents are some of the most wonderful caring parents ever. They are professional people with excellent educational credentials. I am actually amazed that someone, like yourself, doesn’t know anything about Jake and you said he should be castrated! Wow!!! You scare me!!! I would recommend that you find out what you are talking about before you say such horrible things.

    • SLB

You people are delusional. She’s as big a phony and liar as he is.

      • Mellissa

Yeah, but we knew that about Vienna already. What surprised us is that Mr. Perfect, Nice Guys Always Finish Last Jake was an ass as well.

      • pam

Suzi u are blindsided it is proven fact that men that are mental abuser or abusers of any kind pick up habits like that from the way he was raised….People like that sweep everything under the rug where they appear to be a so called a HAPPY NORMAL FAMILY!!!!

    • corey

Remeber there is always her truth, his truth and the real truth

    • shilo

I do not like Jake! He does think he is “Tom Cruise” he has the potential to be physically abusive and loves attention…
I do not believe one word of what he says…and I was never a fan of Vienna’s …Jake will NEVER be looked upon as a real nice guy!
What was with him taking his pants off in DWTS?? I thought it was low and who cared….

    • kate

hands down, Vienna told the truth. Jake is all about himself

  • jj

Not interested in what Chris Harrison has to say after the interview with Jake and Vienna……so disrepectful to women.

  • Ida Red

If anything, I think he gave Vienna too much time. It’s no wonder Jake sat there quiet most of the time. Chris never really gave him a chance to talk. I guess hysterical, whiner with a victim complex earn more ratings. Chris’ excuse at the end of the interview was so bogus. “I guess we should have waited.” WHATEVER. You all knew exactly what you were doing and it blew up in your face.

    • Scooter

I agree. I think Chris is a great guy, and all, but his mediating of the Jake/Vienna situation was spineless. He allowed Vienna to hijack the conversation even though she didn’t have anything substantial to offer. I think Chris was too afraid of being perceived as a misogynist had he taken control (i.e. shutting Vienna up)to keep the discussion fairly balanced.

      • Kendra

Scooter …. I totally agree with you!

    • dally

Jake got two solo sessions with Chris to tell his side of it. Vienna got zero!!!

Vienna may have whined, but Jake was a misogynistic controlling a**h*le

      • S

Vienna is who she’s always been – but she’s never really been a liar. Jake, on the other hand, has always put on the annoying “good boy” front but, clearly, his flash of anger and obvious contempt about Vienna’s dog (jerk) is a glimpse of who he really is and what he’s capable of. In fact, we saw a little bit of it on DWTS when he walked out on his partner in a snit (I know, I don’t have a life). Chris’s support of Jake during the interview was unconscionable. I can suspend reality long enough to sit through “Bachelor” but does ABC really expect its audience to be that blind and stupid? (rhetorical) Jake *is* a famewhore – his actions speak to that loud and clear. And, if he is gay and pulled this stunt to get into show business, the gay community isn’t going to want to have anything to do with him. Jake is a fake (a hostile and abusive one at that), but clearly ABC is posturing him for more TV time and I bet it’s ony a matter of days before we see our hero break down into “tears” again.

      • Dally

        Well said S

      • NB

Jake got the first solo interview because he was the main focus of the show, The Bachelor. He got the second solo interview b/c Vienna stormed out. I think people might be reading way too much into that one! I think Chris did a good job, if he was short with Vienna it was just b/c she kept interrupting at every point she could. Not that I totally blame her, I could feel her frustration with the whole debacle.
I wholeheartedly agree with S. Vienna never was a liar, just talked WAYY to much for her own good. Jake on the other hand is a f**ked up dude and I hope he gets some help before entering another relationship.

    • pam

No I think you a a nut case also not enough time are u crazy he needs no time he is a mental abuser !!! Get a life jerk

  • in the dale

Doesn’t the concept of “reality TV” – cameras following the participants every move – invite “attention whores?” Who else would WANT such notoriety? I don’t find it surprising that hardly any of these so called romances last – I find it surprising that one of them DID. Don’t you think the circumstances – cameras and crew everywhere – create such an unreal atmosphere that the bachelor/bachelorette doesn’t have enough pertinent information to make a life changing decision like deciding to get married?

  • savonarola

When we see coversations between the bachelorette and her suitors they never seem to ask any questions about her– her likes, her dreams, her background, etc. Is this just editing or are they really that narcissistic?

    • etm

      great question

  • Lauren

What’s going on in the portions of the show we don’t see? What does Ali do during the, say, 12 hours a day when she’s not on dates?

    • Ali K

Apart from sleeping and using the rest room, she’s probably just waiting for the crew to set up their shots and apply make up on her.

  • Allison M

How much do Bachelors and Bachelorettes get paid to be on the show?

  • Allison M

Why are bachelors encouraged to propose at the end of the show? This is pretty unrealistic timing-wise, by real-world standards.

  • Allison M

If you could pick two people from different seasons to meet, who would they be?

    • Bev

good one! pls answer this one chris…. and then ask your wife to answer that too – I think she’d probs have some good match-ups

    • kate

      Gwen and Roberto

  • Allison M

What can be changed about the show to make the eventual romantic outcomes more successful?

    • Margaret

Has anyone on the production team of this show (Bachelor/Bachelorette)thought of bringing in some kind of relationship expert to help the bachelor/bachelorette make smart decisions? I mean someone like a marriage counselor/therapist,psychologist, clergy member, even a wise old man/woman with life experience, etc. It may help reduce the number of broken hearts and relationships so typical of these shows. I know it feeds the tabloids and people love gossip, but what about the people that sign on to the show ‘for the right reasons’ (whaterver they may be), I don’t think they’re setting themselves up to be this type of fodder for the tabloids. I think (in my situation at least)it likely to reduce the amount of viewers of the show. I do, however, find this show entertaining, but I don’t see much success in these relationships lasting if there is no chance to talk it through with experienced, knowledgeable and caring individuals. It is so easy to get carried away with emotion and lose objectivity in such situations. Good luck to all past and future bachelors/bachelorettes.

Question #1: Why are you an a$$hole.
Question #2: How did you un-cram your head out of Jake’s a$$ after your “interview” with him and Vienna.
Question #3: How do you ever find the time to attend soooo many successful Bachelor(ette) weddings.
Question #4: What cesspool did they find you in when they asked you to host and how did you crawl out, enquiring minds want to know.
Also, you have truly shown your true “character” in that Jake/Vienna interview (and I hate both of them), and you are the worst reality show host of all time, a puppet of the man, and a chauvinist.
Jeff Probst rocks and kicks your a$$ in everything.

    • Ellen

Hey Avenger, you might want to apply those questions to yourself. Just change the channel if you are so unhappy with this program. Geezzzzz!

      • Nobody

Nah, Avenger is right on the money. CH is so full of himself its a wonder his head can fit through doorways. But, in his defense, CH is the ultimate ‘company man’ who will do whatever it takes to protect the source of his income. Vienna is a threat to his employer, so he has an obligation to protect them any way he can.

Personally, I’d rather see CH and Vienna both drop of the face of the earth. Take J(F)ake with you when you go.

      • SLB

        Ditto. Also, Avenger can add:
Why are you such a smarm condescending d*uchebag who thinks The Bachelor audience is stupid, Chris?

      • avenger

Ellen, right now people in Iran want to literally stone a woman to death for adultery, so should the world sit back and not comment because hey, its not our problem and we have no right to judge? I guess thats the mantra that people like you live by–why speak out against things that are clearly wrong like chauvinism and propaganda when you can sit back, change the channel and ignore.
I stand by my comments, Chris is a loser of a host–I know he’s going to read these comments and I want him to know how people feel about his egregious behavior.

      • KC

LOL Agree with it all except Ellen – but Chris is just doing his job. He’s like a snake oil salesman.

    • Unicorn

Whoa!! Easy there Avenger. This is just a silly reality show. You and Jake need some help controlling that anger. Think ponies and rainbows!

      • SLB

Exactly. So maybe phony Harrison should lighten up a bit and stop trying to convince this show is 100% real.

      • Cupid’s victim

Can I change my ponies to puppies? I’ll keep the rainbow, thank you.

      • avenger

Oh, what a funnnyyy comment, roflmao! Ponies and rainbows (oh sorry puppies), you are so humorous whats your name (since you keep changing your name). You know you really shouldn’t compare me to Jake when you don’t know me (the only thing you know is one comment I made that btw is completely legitimate and based on facts). Dude, what are you Chris’s mom?

  • Elysia

While they were traveling, did the bachelors get to do any sight-seeing while they weren’t on dates with Ali, or were they just locked in the hotel?

    • Stef

I hope you ask this question. Me personally, if I were on this show (not that I ever would be!) and got to travel, I’d be pretty mad if I had to stay at the hotel and never go anywhere. I think they have to stay at the mansion back “home” when they’re not on dates. Though Kasey did manage to go out and get a tattoo — so maybe they’re allowed to leave if they’re going to do something ridiculous that can be used as a ratings ploy.

    • Elysia

Also…sometimes it seems they’re reading names off of pre-labeled roses. Is that the case?

  • Montiesca

Please ignore comments like the ones from “Avenger,” (below) really, how mean-spirited can a person be? You are doing a fine job as host of these shows.
Question: Do you enjoy traveling to the various places featured on the show? Do you get to bring your family?

    • avenger

How about as mean spirited as a guy who said “We don’t care about your puppy”.

      • MLO

Actually, it was “no one cares about the dog.” And he was right. It just goes to show how immature Vienna is, with that type of argument. If either one of them “loved” each other (which I don’t believe for one second was ever the case), the dog’s ailments should have never been brought up.

      • avenger

Look I don’t like the woman but why can’t she bring up her dog. It was a painful time for her and he wasn’t there for her at all–it proves he is cold and shows a lack of love for her, so how exactly is it an immature argument. Have all of your fights in relationships been centered around finding a solution to world hunger and creating better solar powered vehicles? News flash homie, most fights and problems in relationships center around everyday and sometimes stupid things.

      • KC

A man who is that cold about someone’s beloved pet speaks volumes.

  • Nancy

Why are there ‘teasers’ shown for upcoming episodes that are never shown or explained…..for example Tenley’s ‘I’m pregnant’ line last year? It was shown in the previews, but never on the actual show…..

    • Nobody

You almost answered your own question… its a “tease”, or a ploy if you will, to trick viewers into watching the show.

    • T

Nancy, actually it was shown later on. She told Jake she was pregnant then said “just kidding”. She was actually telling him she had been married before.

    • KC

This show is the worst at false teasers.

  • Ellen

Chris, you’re too much of a gentleman to let the producers talk you into a scuzzy interview like the one you just did. There are some things that just need to be left alone — and obviously Jake & “all-I-want-is-fame-girl” is one of those things.

    • Elysia

After watching the interview, I’m inclined to think that Jake wasn’t the good guy here (as much as Chris Harrison seemed awkwardly biased toward him). She was specific where he was endlessly vague. And she flat-out caught him in a lie several times. He referred to her leaving him, and then said he broke up with her. The dog…”We don’t care about the dog!” Actually, I was pretty interested in seeing what else he’d say if he kept going. But the moment when I really began to dislike him was when he smugly stated, “Actually, I flew this weekend.” 1. Flying one day for fun doesn’t make you a pilot again, if you’re persuing an acting career. 2. The douchey looked he made when making this ridiculous “argument” sealed my dislike for him for me.

      • dally

He also started off the discussion by saying she disgusted him. Even if things ended badly, he just couldn’t be the bigger person and tried to be mature about it.

      • KC

Agree, Elysia there was something about the way he said that – ug.

      • Susan

I HATED the way he said “I flew this weekend”!!! I wanted to smack his face – he was so condescending, immature, and arrogant. I think my rage would have been unleashed on him at that point.
