Hey, wait a minute…. the byline up there says “by Michael Slezak”. How long has Slezak been writing your blogs Chris??
Jake came off like an A-hole. Vienna may not be necessarily 100% likable, but she was way more believable, IMO. As for Ali & Co., I’m so glad she kept Chris! I know you want to drum up interest in upcoming shows, but I wish your previews weren’t quite so spoiler-y. That being said, as someone who hasn’t followed the real spoilers (I’m sure some hilarious smarta$$ will be happy to share), I am dying to find out what the deal is with Frank!

Jake really scared me in this interview. He has many of the trademarks of someone who could abuse both physical and mental. I was married to someone very much like him. Vienna is better off without him. Her fear and frustration seemed genuine. But like in almost all breakups there’s 2 people who contribute to the problems. I never liked Vienna but tonight she got my vote. She’s better off without him. It’s obvious he is a very very controlling man. Scary!

  • Beatriz

Make Roberto the next Bachelor…it would be refreshing to FINALLY have a non-white bachelor or bachelorette, considering how diverse this country really is!

  • Krystelle

My Uncle lived in my grandma’s basement pretty much his whole life… and ended up bringing his wife and 2 kids to live in the basement as well. If the guy isn’t in school and living with his parents… he is A CREEPER!!!

    • Mylissa

      Ditto x 10000!!!!

  • todd

Chris, you rolled over to keep the ABC’s golden boy looking good but you failed. Jake, your publicist called and the meeting with “Tool Academy” has been cancelled.

  • Crysti

How are tickets to the After the Final Rose episodes made available? I’ve never missed an episode and would love the opportunity to attend the taping.

  • kinbc

That arguement was the “realist” thing I’ve seen on Reality TV. I wish my ex (Jake’s emotional twin) and other guys who don’t believe they are ever wrong would watch this and see themselves. Vienna is nuts, but she is, at least, honest. Jake is disgusting.

  • Rebecca

Jake has all the earmarks of an potential abuser. He is arrogant, self-absorbed, controlling and wants to be in the limelight which doesn’t leave much room for anyone else in his life, because he is all about himself.

  • Michelle

Wow! That was great TV. Sad, though, that it was two real people, who unfortunately broke up in the public eye. From day one, my friends and I have said there was something “weird” about Jake but we just couldn’t put our finger on what it was. Now, we know! It’s always refreshing when the truth comes out – he’s not perfect after all. Boy, I bet his publicist is not happy with this interview. Jake obviously chose Vienna because she was young, sweet and naive in some ways. When it turned out she wouldn’t sit in a little apartment waiting on him all day and would “undermine” him when he spoke, Jake just didn’t want her anymore, but had to keep up with the public perception that they were very much in love still. What a schmuck and perhaps, even abusive. I believe what Vienna said, for the most part. Her emotions tell it all. Jake has had his 10 minutes of fame – he needs to move on and find his perfect little woman who will sit demurely in her chair and wait for him to speak and never, never “undermine” him!

    • jet

      Very well said!

    • BR

Well said – I completely agree! Jake was arrogant, smarmy, and completely cold. I didn’t believe a thing he said. And his examples of ‘undermining’ were laughable. My god, Vienna’s right – he’ll never find love and I doubt if he even really wants it. He came across as a cold sociopath. I think he chose her because he had a plan of how he could use her for media coverage, then dump her later thinking no one would care because she wasn’t well liked. It backfired. I was never a huge fan of Vienna during The Bachelor but she definitely had my sympathy tonight – I’m glad she spoke up and was honest. And I seriously hope Jake’s career is done. And yes, I think the interview was slanted in Jake’s favor and I felt like you, Chris, were not all that nice to her.

    • Mimi

Vienna sold him out to the tabloids for $50,000, then hooked up with some actor while Jake was out of town. He only found out about it when he saw his face on a magazine cover–and he’s now not supposed to be upset or angry over this? She cries a few tears, and we’re supposed to feel sorry for her??? I have NO SYMPATHY for that child. She doesn’t know what true love is, and needs to grow up

  • Kieran

I believe Vienna still loved Jake at the time of the interview. The way she looked at him near the beginning showed that she was still willing to acknowledge that they had a good relationship for a month.

The most heartbreaking part was when she looked at him for several seconds and then actually said sorry for baring it to the tabloids first. She really looked like she meant it and was hoping at least for an acknowledgement, some civility perhaps. And when he cut her off, the way she broke down showed how that part of her heart still had to break.

    • Shel

It was like she was weighing it out in her mind, “Is it worth it for me to try, one more time, to be real with this man? Will I get any realness back?” And when she didn’t, she completely broke down. I believe she invested way more into that first month they had together and could not stop believing, hoping, even at the end of that interview, that maybe NOW he would turn back into the guy she fell in love with. I always liked Vienna, but that doesn’t mean I didn’t see her faults. No one is perfect. So, for those who say she is a spoiled brat, Daddy’s girl, I say – yep, and it was obvious all along. She never hid it. Can you say the same about who Jake really is? I don’t think so.

    • Mimi

Um, she betrayed him in the tabloids for money, publicly humiliatied him, hooked up with some guy while Jake was in another city, and he doesn’t find out about any of this until he sees his face on a magazine cover. You really think she deserves another chance? She betrayed him and broke his trust and totally dishonored their relationship. I would never trust her again. I have NO sympathy for that child.

      • Mishibel

there WAS NO reltionship at that point- he had checked out mentally after the first month (probably after realizing everyone WAS right about her. He had to keep the game up till the series aired a few months later then fake it till he could get his next tv job.

  • kpardell

True to form you kept that interview rolling forward the best you could Chris. I do not agree with other posts that say you “favored” anyone here-It’s just that Vienna could not approach this interview maturely and speak in a clam and dignified way that I believe Jake was able to do. To me, Jake seemed hurt and betrayed and he tried his best ( as did you) to let Vienna have her say. And say, say, say she did. How could this interview be favoring Vienna when she did 90% of the talking?? Her guilt over how she handled the break-up was evident, and I thought that Jake had just had enough of it all. Thanks for asking good questions and let’s move on everyone!

    • Dana

kpardell – finally the voice of reason!! I think Jake was DONE with all of it! I think I would find a bridge to jump off of if that was what I had to deal with on a daily basis!!

      • Hilda Von Toot

        ..And that voice of hers-UGHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH

    • jet

Oh please. Every time Jake spoke, it was poison. Then he lied about Vienna having an affair. Do you really think that is civil? Do you really think it is appropriate for her to be beaten down by his nasty attacks over and over again- no facts, just attacks? Good for her for speaking up and having some pride in herself. There is no reason for that. When Vienna spoke it was it was honest and not about trying to attack him. Of course she is emotional, she gave up everything for him.

      • Mimi

There was no lie; Gregory Michael has come out on the record and said they were together that weekend. He didn’t give details–but he said she made it “clear” she was single. She betrayed him by running to the tabloids, and sold him out for money. She doesn’t deserve to be trusted. Her crocodile tears are meaningless to me…

    • Wanda

OK! my lst comment. Chris, you are a really intelligent man and I did not see you favoring anyone. I am just so confused as to whether some of these people watched the same interview that I did. If there was anyone that did not see the spoiled, immature brat that I saw with the endless mouth they must have had bad reception and issues!! I hope Jake finds love with a decent woman that will respect him enough to let him speak. I thought he remained cool, poised and collected for a very long time and when he did finally break a little, I found it to be very mild. Keep up the great work, Chris, you are far from a stupid man. Thanks for your part in a GREAT show!!

      • better single than sorry

Please be safe in your relationships!

      • britt

When Jake spoke he made himself sound even more like an asshole who has the biggest ego ever, he had absolutely no examples of how she wrecked the relationship, all he could say was she undermined him and was mean, and then admitted to throwing the GPS like a freak. And the interview was slightly biased in favor of Jake because obviously the show doesnt want to make it seem like they picked an ass to be the Bachelor.

      • Me

I agree. In the face of Vienna’s betrayals, he was trying to remain calm–but she was making it very hard by her constant interruptions.

    • better single than sorry

Jake was quiet because he had a lot to hide! Despite the biased interview, Vienna’s emotions appeared sincere while Jake appeared cold, controlling and downright creepy. I am not a Vienna fan, but I believe she was sincere, and I am glad she is out of the relationship. Emotional abuse is still abuse, and it usually comes before a guy starts to physically abuse the woman, child, etc. Women, stay away from Jake!!!

  • Jan

Watching Jake and Vienna was disgusting. She is a spoiled Daddy’s girl who is used to being pampered by a man. And Jake looked like his temper was ready to blow up any second. That said, she did try to say how bad it was and speak up for herself. Very confusing that she isn’t going back home?? Very sad that Jake needs the spotlight and needs to look good……when really…..his abusive tendency isn’t hidden at all. Seeing this helps me see that truth in this show is going downhill. How sad, as I think you, Chris, seem genuine.

  • Sharon

It was an embarassing interview for all concerned. I think the whole “Hollywood” thing got to both parties. They are not actors; they are ordinary people who got more than their fifteen minutes of fame and attention. I think they both need to go back home, resume their careers, and, hopefully learn something from this lesson in reality relationships. Counseling might be helpful.

  • sue

I net ever like veanna. I always liked Ali. I am glad she did not choose Ali. Chris, get ride of jake out of TV. He is fake and controler. Veanna in not mature girl either. I hope Ali will find Love!!! No more Jake please…

  • Jocelyn

Chris, you threw Vienna under the bus. You clearly favoured Jake, who displays the classic characteristics of an emotionally abusive control freak. Anyone who has been involved in an abusive relationship can recognize his coldly controlling and punishing ways for what they are. Too bad that your plan to try and smooth over Jake’s cruel behaviour backfired. I bet that the majority of viewers believe that Vienna was genuine, honest and sad about the break-up while Jake the Snake was lying through his clenched teeth. He’s scary. You weren’t fair. You blew it big time.

    • Mylissa

Vienna is just THAT manipulative. He had a right to be angry – that doesn’t mean he has an anger problem.

It was very fair. If Chris was favoring Jake, then Jake would have had more time to defend himself, and be more on the offense instead of defense.

    • Me

Jake had every right to be angry, after she ran to the tabloids behind his back, then got together with some actor while Jake was out of town.
