Image Credit: Chris Hatcher/PR PhotosAfter starring in CBS’ Worst Week and ABC’s Romantically Challenged, Kyle Bornheimer has replaced Kyle Howard in the NBC comedy Perfect Couples, due to Howard’s potential scheduling conflict with TBS’ My Boys. This was met with resounding cheers around PopWatch HQ, not because we don’t like Howard, but because we’ve been fans of Bornheimer since at least 2007, when EW highlighted his “30-second career” (including commercials for Geico, Staples, Imodium, Stanley, and Sprint). Will Perfect Couples finally be the vehicle that gives him a 30-minute career? Let’s look again at NBC’s description of the show, which follows the misadventures of three couples:
“Dave [Bornheimer] and Julia (Christine Woods, FlashForward) are the relatable, normal couple, but Julia’s hope of remaining the cool, low-maintenance chick is tested by Dave’s attempts to keep both his wife and his needy best friend Vance (Dave Walton, NBC’s 100 Questions) equally happy. Vance, along with the neurotic Amy (Mary Elizabeth Ellis, It’s Always Sunny in Philadelphia), are the high-passion, high-drama couple who bring out the best and worst in each other. The third duo features Rex (Hayes MacArthur, She’s Out of My League), a reformed party guy, and his wife, Leigh (Olivia Munn, Attack of the Show), who considers herself as the group’s mother hen. Believing that they are relationship experts, Rex and Leigh have attended every class and seminar on relationships — and regard themselves as the ‘perfect couple.’”

I like Kyle Bornheimer. He’s been popping up as a guest star on TV shows for the past few years now (The O.C., Party Down, Chuck), and while I never saw Worst Week, judging from the commercials and reviews, it sounds like he was the best thing about it. Seems like he’s been waiting for his big break for a while now.

Always adored Munn from Attack of the Show, and she was funny in Slammin Salmon in a tricky role. Too bad she’s stuck here with dud Bornheimer and a frenetically unfunny show.
I actually watechd the film after seeing this update, and I didn’t actually get the feeling his character was gay. The gay brother was the only one who ever made a move. It seemed like Bornheimer was just going with whatever the other guy initiated. Just my two cents.
When will the networks learn that this guy, Kyle is the kiss of death for any show he is on
I watched two minutes of his Toolbox show and had to quickly change the channel! He us sooo annoying!!!
