A gallery of seven stills from Burlesque hit the Internet this week, causing waves of excitement among diva aficionados, the Gays, fans of the small-town-girl-conquers-the-big-city film genre, and Bob Mackie (not that these categories are mutually exclusive, mind you). And while, personally, I’m curious to see whether Christina Aguilera the Actress is more Diana Ross in Lady Sings the Blues or Mariah Carey in Glitter, I’m even more stoked for the cinematic return of Cher! (Yes, that sentence did, in fact, require an exclamation point.) Come on now, you know you loved her in Silkwood, Mermaids, Moonstruck, and Suspect, and (whoa!) I just realized all her best roles came in flicks that had one-word titles, so perhaps Burlesque will continue that trend. But I digress. And I’m also trying to sway your vote. So let’s get on with the poll question, shall we? [Related: We rate 11 divas' big-screen debuts.]

Please don’t let this be another “Showgirls.
It won’t!!! This Movie has a Talented Cast, & The producers of the movie are one of the best in Hollywood! Also it has a Oscar winner screenwriter! Christina took her time to find a good role, not just any part! Plus CHER would have never come back to the Screen if this was nothing short of Amazing!!! It’s also coming out in the Holiday Season which shows that it has major support behind it!
Love everything about this! Cher has always been my favorite, Xtina is the singer Britney wished she was, and Stanley Tucci turns everything he touches into gold. Can’t wait.
Even though many years separate Cher and Christina, they both have a vast range and depth of talent, with WOW and X factors, resulting in staying power AND respect, in and out of the industry.
What can be said about Tucci that hasn’t been said a million times!
An artist to the nth degree. My favorite role of his was in Devil/Prada, but his work in Julie/Julia was a masterpiece.
I have never understood the hype for the entertainer or person called Madonna ever since she first appeared in the early 80s. IMHO, her music was overproduced, she couldn’t act, and her movies were terrible. Just seemed like a huge PR effort.
As for Britney, she was big with the tweens for a few years, and they tend to remain loyal…until they realize it was all a lie (like lip synching). Then it turned out she was one of the worst role models our young girls ever had!
If the anticipation doesn’t kill me, I’ll be one of the first in line to see this movie. Yippeeee!!!
Can I just vote for Stanley Tucci?
THIS…especially since (from the stills) it looks like he’s pretty much reprising his role from “The Devil Wears Prada.”
Stanley Tucci makes everything better.
Let’s hope its more along the lines of Moulin Rouge.
All 3 categories are reason enough for me…but…I do need to point out that Xtina looks a bit too much like Shelley Long in that picture.
LOL. Yes, she does in this picture.
I thought the same thing, I thought “Hey that’s Shelley Long!”
I would be happy to be wrong but, I very much doubt Christina can act. She does put over a whole lot of emotion in her face when she is singing. I doubt this is a challenging role but, still. We shall see.
Oops. I meant to say she *doesn’t* put over a whole lot of emtion in her face when she is singing.
No Emotion??? Wow u really don’t know what ur talking about!!!! All she does is show Range & Emotion…
I agree with lyad, Christina is Amazing singing live, the dance moves and her face expressions when she sings a powerful ballad, she is just perfect for this role and it’s gonna be great seeing her in the big screen.
Hmm both curious and not so curious to see this movie! But its got Stanely Tucci in it! He’s amazing!
Lady Gaga is a good actor and flingfriendfinder
Lady gaga is good as a copycat, copied Madonna and Christina Aguilera fashion and lifestyle.
But she will never sing as Christina that’s something she cannot copy or act.
You just made my day, M.Slezak, with this news (and thinking about adopting you!)! I look forward to seeing Cher in another A-1 movie with great anticipation. Have been a big fan of hers since the 60′s. Just hope all that facial work doesn’t interfere with whatever character she gives us this time. Also, agree with majority on raves for Tucci. He’s been top notch in everything I’ve seen him in. If Bob Mackie is doing the costumes, you can bet your sweet bippy it will top whatever Moulin Rouge gave us. Mr. Mackie has still got IT!!
Screw these bitches…I’m only gonna watch it for the tasty piece called Cam Gigandet!!!
Cher is the best!
What’s wrong with you old, grumpy, saggy grandmas and grandpas denying the existence of Mrs. Christina Aguilera in this movie? You might have grown up in the 60′s but Xtina has an incredible voice or else Cher would have not accepted to act in a movie in which Christina basically is the LEAD role.
@Anthony -
What’s wrong with you grumpy??? It took you five (5) weeks to catch up with us. With your attitude, and not paying attention to the facts, you’re already sounding old, really old!
Seriously, if you’re lucky to live long enough, your comments here WILL come back to haunt you. In the meantime, us old folks are just rocking away and laughing at you!!
I just gotta say I’m relly looking foward on this movie. First and foremost I am a huge fan of Christina and I’ve been waiting for her screen debut ever since Britney did hers and everyone was expecting Christina to make a move. She always said she was gonna wait for the perfect role and i believe this is perfect for her. Anyhow, on the other hand, CHER is in it!! come one that is just a major plus! Christina making her debut with an Academy Award Winner, not to mention many Grammys, that is a huge backup for Christina, and on top of that she gets to work with so many talented actors such as Stanley Tucci, Kristen Bell, Eric Dane, etc. I mean come on, I rarely doubt Xtina’s acting skills will suck that much otherwise the producer of this movie wouldnt have wanted Xtina so badly in this movie. And if Cher accepted to be in it, it’s gotta be a really good movie, so yes I’m excited for this thanksgiving.
I agree with you Abi, 5 time Grammy Award Winner Christina Aguilera is great and Academy Award Winner Cher will be awesome, two of Hollywood’s power celebs together in an awesome movie.
Xtina obv the girl is about to slay
This is true HOLLYWOOD ROYALTY, QUEEN CHER AND PRINCESS CHRISTINA, not that crap called pop royalty Madonna and Britney, haha
CHER THE BBB BBEST !!!!!!!!!
