You know, I can agree with that assessment, made by one young actress in the new trailer for July 30′s Charlie St. Cloud. (Even if I’m impressed that a girl that young would actually know who James Dean is.) Because look how tortured Zac Efron is as the star of the July 30 tearjerker, about a very guilt-ridden, very graceful baseball player/sailor/prospective college student who loses his young brother in a car accident. Just imagine how he’d look in a red jacket! (That is, when you’re not paying attention to how he looks in a wet shirt.) So who’s ready to cry? Watch the trailer embedded after the jump!

I actually like Zac Efron. I think he’s got some talent. Really.
As the only girl in middle school who’s celebrity crush was James Dean, I’m also surprised a girl that young would of heard of him.
I can’t wait to see this movie. I am a big fan of Zac Efron and not only is he beautiful but I agree he actually does have talent. I’m glad he is moving into more adult roles, maybe it will help showcase that talent.
This movie actually looks decent. And I think Zac Efron has some potential if he does good roles like this.
It might not be the greatest movie of all times and a bit cheesy but I think it’s going to be a nice little love story to balance out all those big budget action movies.
Ugh, looks incredibly bad.
Oh Zac Efron. Never stop hot-crying. And the fact that the new National song is in this trailer makes me beyond happy.
I will watch Zac Efron in anything. I remember watching him on Summerland, pre-HSM.
Saw this trailer before Eclipse and BAWLED my eyes out – I couldn’t stop crying! Just from the TRAILER! I’m avoiding this one at all costs. Wayyy too sad.
But if you read the book you realize that, while there are parts that are sad, the overall story is really quite sweet and uplifting. Don’t write it off just yet. The book was great, hopefully the movie will be too.
Great trailer!!! I will definitely watch this movie.
I’m embarrassed that I’m considering a guilty pleasure viewing of this movie. The trailer sucked me in by appealing to my inner 15 year old. Damn!
I don’t know if I can handle watching this movie. My younger brother died over 15 years ago, and I still remember clearly just wanting to sit in my room and remember him. I didn’t want to be around anyone. Wouldn’t speak to my mom and dad. I just existed. I’m hoping by the time it comes out on dvd, I will have worked up the courage to watch it. It does look good, and Zac Efron seems to portray the emotions well…at least in the footage the trailer showed.
he is DREAMY. i don’t care how much younger he is. movie looks sad, but good.
I honestly think Zac Efron has a lot of potential as an actor beyond what we’ve seen in his respective franchise. Like Daniel Radcliffe kind of, only Harry Potter is far more serious than HSM
Keep the hair
What is the song on the end of the trailer? I Love it.
It’s Biffy Clyro, “Many of Horror.”
