2010's Sexiest Vegetarian Celebrity is not Entertainment Weekly writer Michael Ausiello

The above headline seems like the most obvious statement in the world to me on so many levels, but today PETA has officially confirmed it. EW’s Michael Ausiello, a.k.a. the office’s biggest loser, is a less sexy vegetarian than actual celebrity Bob Harper, a trainer on The Biggest Loser. House‘s Olivia Wilde edged out Lisa Edelstein for the lady title. Winners Harper and Wilde are both proud vegans. When asked if he thought his non-veganism hurt his chances, Ausiello told PopWatch exclusively, “It’s possible.” Ausiello, who claims to be “heading in a vegan direction,” then selected a dark chocolate Kit Kat for the road as he wandered away from my door for the 17th time today. Ausiello was later spotted weeping at his desk while using said Kit Kat to stir a large bowl of cage-free raw eggs. He asks for your patience as a recount is conducted.

From PETA’s press release: “Other celebrities who landed in the top 10 include Alec Baldwin, Ellen DeGeneres, Emily Deschanel, Joaquin Phoenix, Michael Ausiello, Russell Brand, and Sarah Silverman.” Cookie Monster responds after the jump! READ FULL STORY »

'Deadliest Catch' preview: Bad news travels

It’s Tuesday, which means we’re bracing for another episode of Deadliest Catch (Discovery, 9 p.m. ET). Tonight, we’ll see the rest of the fleet begin to hear the news about Capt. Phil Harris’ stroke as they deal with their own problems — such as Capt. Sig’s deckhand Jake Anderson (pictured) getting understandably/dangerously distracted thinking about his missing father. Watch a preview clip below. READ FULL STORY »

Emma Watson stars in boyfriend's band's new music video

Filed under: Music and tagged:

Okay, I was a little skeptical hearing that Emma Watson co-starred in the new video “Say You Don’t Want It” from her boyfriend George Craig’s band One Night Only. But the song is good, and the concept is actually sweet enough that I almost teared up at the end. I won’t spoil it for you. Watch it below. Did you see the twist coming? READ FULL STORY »

'Big Brother' reveals twist for new season: There's a saboteur among them! Thoughts?

big-brother-11Image Credit: John P. Filo/CBSCBS announced today the twist for the upcoming season of Big Brother — because you knew there was going to be one. For the 12th installment of the series, there will be one houseguest whose sole purpose is to shake up the house and the game.

This Big Brother Saboteur — as he or she is being called — will receive their commands directly from the viewers, who will learn the mole’s identity during the first live show on July 15. (You can find out more about how the audience will factor into this here.) The longer the Saboteur hides their identity from the other housemates and can stay in the game, the more money they win.

So, Big Brother fanatics, what do you think of the twist? And what kind of evil actions are you already thinking up for the Saboteur? The possibilities are endless!

Reminder: BB and The Chenbot return July 8.

'Glee' reality show to air on Oxygen along with episodes of the original series

GleeImage Credit: Carin Baer/FoxGood news for Gleeks: EW has learned that not only has Oxygen nabbed the syndication rights to Glee with episodes beginning to air in 2013, but the network is also developing a reality companion series. Just last week, the much-rumored Glee reality series was thought to be dead, but it looks like Oxygen breathed (tee hee) some new life into the project. Details are sketchy in terms of the format of the reality show (as well as how much co-creator Ryan Murphy and the cast will be involved) but this unscripted show looks to bow sometime in 2011.

What do you think, PopWatchers? Will you watch a Glee reality series? Is it too much?

'Bachelorette' spoilers: Do they make you want to watch more, or ruin the whole darn thing?

the-bacheloretteImage Credit: ABCSpoilers — they’re called that for a reason. There was a time in the olden days when people didn’t like to know what was coming in their entertainment. Silly them, they thought they were watching/reading/listening to find out what happens next. Turns out those old-fashioned folks were wrong — at least according to the apparent viewing science behind The Bachelorette. If you watched last night’s episode (and I hope you did, because it took reality television to new heights, with calls from secret girlfriends in Canada and leaked voicemails and everything), you saw a lengthy string of scenes extolling what’s “coming this season” on The Bachelorette. Not just the kind of teasers for next week’s episode that we’ve all grown accustomed to in our TV-saturated times; we’re talking clear scenes from weeks in the future that made it fairly obvious who gets hometown dates and, more importantly, revealed a major emotional confrontation between frontrunner Frank and Ali. (ABC hasn’t immediately responded to EW’s calls for comment.) Sure, we’re not 100-percent sure what bomb he drops to make her sob and question whether she’ll ever find love, but we can certainly surmise that there’s a breakup-type scenario in the near future for our heroine and the retail manager/aspiring screenwriter from Geneva, Ill.

And incidentally, anyone whose curiosity is piqued enough can simply go online, Google “Bachelorette spoilers,” and find detailed breakdowns of who leaves each week and why. READ FULL STORY »

'Rango' trailer: The Johnny Depp-Gore Verbinski collaboration comes into focus

Filed under: Movies and tagged: , , ,

rangoAfter that vague teaser for Rango, the animated film starring Johnny Depp and directed by Gore Verbinski (Pirates of the Caribbean), it’s nice to get a trailer that actually features Depp’s titular character. What we learn: Rango is a chameleon who ends up in the Mojave Desert and has a hard time fitting in (it could be the shirt), which may get him killed. Also, that just seeing the image of Rango, we would’ve guessed he was voiced by Depp. Or, Steve Buscemi. (According to Empire Online, which snagged the first look at the poster, pictured, ILM technology will “capture and translate every aspect of [Depp's] performance, using it to drive the computer-generated character in a way that has yet to be seen in an animated feature.”)

Rango seems delightfully bumbling and neurotic to me — a perfect addition to Depp’s oeuvre?

Lunchtime Poll: Ping pong or pigeon racing on TV?

lunchtime-pollImage Credit: Erin Kornfeld/Elk Studios; Stringer/Getty ImagesSusan Sarandon told People she’s in the early filming stages of a reality show set at her NYC ping pong club, SPIN. “It won’t be the Jersey Shore,” said the Johnny Appleseed of ping pong, much to our relief. Meanwhile, Animal Planet is supposedly developing a series about Mike Tyson racing pigeons. That project’s tentative title is Taking on Tyson, which seems a little self-centered. I mean he probably just sits there while they work out.
