The trailer for Conviction hit the Internets today (watch it below), and though the film won’t be in theaters until Oct. 15, inquiring minds are already wondering if there’s gonna be yet another showdown between Hilary Swank and Annette Bening at the Kodak Theatre next year. Directed by Tony Goldwyn (A Walk on the Moon), Conviction is a based-on-a-true-story drama with Swank starring as Betty Anne Waters, the working-class single mom who put herself through law school to overturn her brother’s (Sam Rockwell) life sentence for a murder he didn’t commit. It also stars Minnie Driver, Melissa Leo, and Peter Gallagher. READ FULL STORY »

'Gilmore Girl' Lauren Graham to star in 'Scream 4'?
Image Credit: Jason LaVeris/FilmMagic.comYup, you read that right. The beloved Gilmore Girls star Lauren Graham is thisclose to joining the cast of the next installment in the Scream saga, according to a source close to the production. The actress better known to millions of rabid TV fans as Lorelai is the latest high-profile name attached to the self-referential slasher franchise. The series’ original writer and director, Kevin Williamson and Wes Craven, are on board, as are the original trilogy’s stars Neve Campbell, Courteney Cox, and David Arquette. Graham would join Scream newcomers Emma Roberts, Hayden Panettiere, Rory Culkin, Lake Bell, Nico Tortorella, Anthony Anderson, and Marielle Jaffe. The film will start shooting in Ann Arbor, Mich., at the end of this month and is scheduled to hit theaters on April 15, 2011.
With all of that obligatory casting news and speculation out of the way, let’s take a step back and put this question to all you Gilmore Girls fans: Would you be more excited about Lorelai on the big screen or bummed that she might end up as part of the film’s bloody bodycount?
The Hypochondriac Files: Two celebs share their health scares. Cue my heebie-jeebies.
Image Credit: Sylvain Gaboury/PR Photos; Frank Micelotta/Getty ImagesI tend to get carried away after I hear death or health stories. When Dr. Greene got brain cancer on ER — I must have been maybe 11 years old — I found myself looking in the mirror for several months weeks after the episode to make sure my tongue didn’t veer to either side when I stuck it out. Today, I’m creeped out by bacterial infections and of getting in cars, thanks to Dean Winters and Jonah Hill, respectively.
Winters shared the story of his near-death a year ago with the NY Post, telling them he has spent 95 days in the hospital in the last year and had part of is thumb and two toes amputated due to a terrible infection that at one point stopped his heart for two-and-a-half minutes. I’m a bit shocked the 30 Rock actor was able to keep this health scare a secret for so long — but mostly paralyzed with terror.
Hill finally put to rest a lot of Internet hokum and spilled to Rolling Stone the real story behind the severe scar on his arm: a terrible car accident as a rebellious teen that almost resulted in the loss of his arm. I got chills just typing that.
I’m really glad they’re both okay now, but I wish I could say the same for my mental state. Don’t leave me virtually hanging, PopWatchers. Do these stories (real or on TV shows) turn anyone else into a hypochondriac? And if so, why can’t we stop reading/watching?!
Does Kristen Stewart have what it takes to replace Angelina Jolie in 'Wanted 2'?
Image Credit: Insidefoto/PR PhotosFor months, it’s been rumored that Kristen Stewart was being considered to replace Angelina Jolie as leading lady in Wanted 2. Now, the Twilight star herself has added fuel to the fire. When asked by MTV News whether she’d be interested in filling Jolie’s shoes in the sequel to the 2008 action flick hit, Stewart said, “Yes. Definitely, as long as it was really good.” The actress added, “Wanted was a great movie…James McAvoy makes that movie different than most other action movies because he’s a real guy, and I feel most action movies don’t have that. But I wouldn’t just want to be in a mindless, blow-up movie. I’m not into it.”
Hm, that sounds like a ‘Yes’ to us.
While Universal, the studio behind the film, has not returned EW’s request for comment, Stewart’s name has been floating around the project ever since it was reported that Jolie would not return for the sequel and that the female lead might be rewritten for a younger actress. In the meantime, Stewart says that she is already booked to star in parts one and two of Breaking Dawn and On the Road.
So what do you think? Does Bella have what it takes to fill in for action babe Angie? And, perhaps more importantly, are you interested in seeing a Wanted sequel?
Bradley Cooper signed to Disney baseball film, needs mentor
Image Credit: Dominique Charriau/WireImage.comBradley Cooper may be a member of The A-Team now, but he could be Double-A or Triple-A in the baseball flick Disney is developing. According to The Hollywood Reporter, he’s attached to star in an untitled dramedy about an injured big league player who gets sent back to the minors — “where the only place he can find lodging is in a senior citizens’ home.”
“There,” the trade continues, “he meets an old baseball guru who helps lead him back.”
Let’s break this down. Immediately, I had two regrets: Paul Newman isn’t around to play the senior citizen (he would’ve been great), and Kevin Costner isn’t old enough. But moving beyond those disappointments, this concept — now being developed by Wall Street: Money Never Sleeps scribe Allan Loeb — definitely has promise. The minor leagues are full of ridiculous fodder (see: Bull Durham), and we love seeing men from two different generations talk America’s favorite pastime (see: Field of Dreams). Plus, the ladies in that senior citizens’ home are gonna love Cooper, and he looks really good scruffy (you know we’re gonna have the too-down-and-out-to-even-shave montage).
Are you digging this as much as I am? Don’t even try to pretend you don’t enjoy a good sports film from the Mouse House: The Rookie, Remember the Titans, Invincible, Miracle, Cool Runnings, The Mighty Ducks. Who would you like to see cast as Cooper’s mentor in the home? Robert Redford seems a natural fit. But I also have a dream of Clint Eastwood playing gruff in a Disney film…
