New Old Spice commercial: Your man definitely can't swan dive like this.

What can’t Isaiah Mustafa — a.k.a. the Old Spice guy — do? Seriously, it’s no wonder the guy nabbed a talent deal with NBC: in his latest Old Spice commercial (embedded below), the hunky dude can handle a logroll, cook a gourmet cake in the kitchen he built with his own hands, and perform one epic swan dive. Forget America — Isaiah‘s got talent! Cue: Howie Mandel slow clap!

Will this campaign ever get old?

One downside: the Miami abode does NOT have a duck phone. Let’s take a moment of silence. (Pause.) Okay, now watch the trailer after the jump! READ FULL STORY »

Heidi Klum to produce ‘Seriously Funny Kids’…OMG, LOL!

Heidi Klum, host of the now supersized Project Runway, is producing a new reality series called Seriously Funny Kids. She’ll do the show in conjunction with LMNO Productions, which produced Bill Cosby’s Kids Say the Darndest Things. According to Variety, Klum’s new project will travel to kid-centric locations and film tykes’ reactions to various scenarios. Klum and LMNO are currently shopping Kids to networks.

I suppose it makes sense for Klum, who has four kids of her own (see one of them at left), to get into the family reality entertainment business. But girlfriend’s getting very busy. She and her husband Seal are also developing a Lifetime show for themselves. So, like, how will she have time to squeeze in “Good morning designers!” and “Ooh, it looks expensive!” with all this new action?

Anyway. What do you think of Seriously Funny Kids? Will you watch?

Happy Social Media Day. Now give me my stinking TV badges

Mashable has declared June 30 Social Media Day, which is really weird because I could have sworn that was every day. Everyone celebrate by tweeting something stupid (like a link to this post) and then sharing it on Facebook. What a rare treat for your friends and followers. I had a family once. Do you remember when you had a family? Those are so last season! What even made you think of them? READ FULL STORY »

Jude Law set for 'Hugo Cabret,' Gore Verbinski to helm 'Walter Mitty' remake

excess-hollywood

  • Jude Law is set to star alongside Christopher Lee, Ray Winstone, Frances de la Tour, and Richard Griffiths in the 3-D Hugo Cabret, directed by Martin Scorsese. Ben Kingsley, Sacha Baron Cohen, and Chloe Moretz have already signed onto the film, based on the National Book Award-winning novel about an orphan living in a Paris train station who tries to solve the mystery of a broken robot who just hasn’t been the same since seeing A.I. [THR]
  • Gore Verbinski will direct 20th Century Fox’s update of The Secret Life of Walter Mitty. The original 1947 film followed a “day-dreaming editor who can’t seem to do anything right, so [he] imagines all sorts of exciting lives for himself.” There’s another reason that sounds familiar. [Variety]
  • Angela Bassett will play Paula Patton’s mother in wedding-themed comedy Jumping the Broom. [THR]
  • Heather Graham is set to play Aunt Opal in Judy Moody and the Not Bummer Summer. [Variety]
  • Snaps for Get Him to the Greek‘s Kali Hawk: The actress has been tapped for Kristen Wiig’s Bridesmaids and indie comedy Let Go. [THR]
  • Claire Forlani and Peter Mooney will join the cast of Starz’s Camelot, which already stars Joseph Fiennes and Eva Green. Mooney will play Arthur’s brother; Forlani is set for Arthur’s mother. Which begs the question, which is worse: marrying Uther, or sitting through all three hours of Meet Joe Black? [Deadline]
  • See Rev. See Rev Run on the Style network, which has nabbed rights to MTV’s Run’s House, which stars the run-D.M.C. rapper (né Joseph Simmons) and his family. [THR]

'Jaws' turned 35 this month. What movie created your biggest irrational fear?

Steven Spielberg’s Jaws turned 35 earlier this month. Yup, it was 35 years ago (on June 20, 1975 to be exact) that the modern Hollywood blockbuster was born and with it, a drastic increase in human beings’ irrational fear of sharks. I can clearly remember floating on a raft with my sister on Siesta Key in Florida one hot summer day sometime around 1984 when she said, “You know, in Jaws, the shark always attacks when people are calmly dangling their legs off their rafts.” So we hauled ass back to the shore. I’m not sure I’d even seen the actual movie by then, but the poster (left) was terrifying enough for my impressionable mind. The whole idea of a great, ravenous beast opening its mouth to take a bite out of an unsuspecting swimmer so freaked me out that my fear of what lies beneath soon extended to all bodies of water: lakes, ponds, rivers, and yes friends, even sometimes pools. I am not kidding.

So I can thank Mr. Spielberg for scarring me for life with his brilliant, timeless classic about a killer shark. Who are you sending your shrink bill to? What movie created your greatest irrational fear? Let the message board be your therapist! Share!

Wonder Woman gets a new costume. We're unsure about the jacket.

Tags:

I have a confession to make: I’m a shameless geek for new superhero outfits. At least once per decade, every iconic comic book hero will get a new look, usually to signal a massive storyline shakeup, a new creative team, and/or a desperate bid for cultural relevance. Witness electro-Superman, Invisible Woman post-stripperobics, and The Scarlet Spider (a.k.a., Spider-Man for the Torn Hoodie crowd.) The new outfits never last long, but they do provide an intriguing, time capsule-ready look at the fashion (and the silliness) of their cultural moment. So no matter what you think about the new Wonder Woman outfit, we can all agree that this costume change proves definitively that 2010 is cooler than 1968.

The first thing you notice is that our favorite Amazon princess has roughly quadrupled the amount of clothing on her body. That’s an admirable impulse: when people talk about unrealistic depictions of women in comics, Wonder Woman is public enemy number one. Still, I wish they had come up with something slightly more colorful: between the long black leggings and the dark blue jacket, this new outfit sort of looks like Joan Jett with a jewelry budget. But then again, I still think Daredevil should have kept his yellow costume. What do you think, PopWatchers? Vote in our poll after the jump! READ FULL STORY »

BREAKING: Elena Kagan will not choose sides in Edward v. Jacob case

Psh. Why question Elena Kagan about military recruitment bans and gun rights when America has more important issues on its mind? Apparently, that’s what Senator Amy Klobuchar — from my native state of Minnesota — thought when she asked the Supreme Court nominee to comment on “the famous case of Edward vs. Jacob.” And you thought the Democrats would be hurling softballs at Kagan!

I suppose I can’t blame Klobuchar for having Twilight Saga: Eclipse on the mind, since her daughter apparently hosted a sleepover to commemorate today’s opening of the film. But I don’t come to work describing my night drinking Whitesnake wine while watching DVR-ed Charmed re-runs. Oh wait, I just did. Okay, maybe I should take it easy on Klobuchar.

Either way, I think Kagan deserves a place on the Supreme Court purely for this “b–ch, pleeze” look and her response: “I wish you wouldn’t [ask].” Good move, Kagan. Keep the tweens guessing. (Because you just know she’s totally a Potter-phile.) Let’s just hope you’re a little more decisive once (and if) you don your black robes.

Any other Minnesotans feeling the least bit ashamed right now? Let’s soften the blow by eating some cheese curds, shall we? [TPM]

Lunchtime Poll: Bacon or Smoked Salmon vodka?

JESSICA-WALTERImage Credit: Sam Urdank/FoxSorry to bring up alcohol at lunchtime, but Lucille Bluth has been at it since 8 o’clock in the morning and we all need to catch up. (That martini to your right? “That one didn’t count.”) A trendy Google news story alerted us yesterday via meatwave that not only is there a bacon-infused vodka out there named Bakon, but a smoked salmon-flavored vodka has made its way into Bloody Marys, creamy pasta dishes, and the parched mouths of fishermen up in wacky Alaska.

Which would you try? I feel like I’d have to sample smoked salmon vodka one time just for cred, but that I could go on sipping bacon-infused anything for the rest of my days.

DON’T EVER MENTION KLIMPY’S TO ME AGAIN!

Lindsay Lohan on 'Double Exposure': Always wipe down your stripper pole

lindsay-lohanImage Credit: Jean Baptiste Lacroix/WireImage.comLast night, we saw the conclusion to the Lindsay Lohan-related saga that began on last week’s Double Exposure episode, titled “Is Lindsay Here Yet?” And frankly, I’m not sure what all the fuss was about.

Recap in case you missed the beginning of the drama: Lohan was running late to a photo shoot for her 6126 legging line (those two words together still slay me!), causing our favorite frantic photographers to become, well, more frantic. Losing a sizable amount of money due to someone’s 11-hour tardiness will do that to you, though. For the record, Lohan claimed via Twitter last week that the events shown were “bulls—” and that she was purposely given her the wrong call time for the shoot, saying “it was all a set-up.” READ FULL STORY »
