Yes, I’ve seen the trailers for July 9′s Despicable Me. But I’m still not entirely convinced that the movie isn’t just about those little yellow eggs you find inside of Kinder Surprises. Because the streets of New York are filled with movie posters featuring these creatures — and nothing else. Where is Gru, the evil “villain” voiced by Carell in the film? Apparently, he’s getting his minions to do all his publicity work for him too. What a diva.
Based solely on these posters, what would you think Despicable Me is about, PopWatchers? (Shrunken Homer Simpson heads?) Have the ads piqued your curiosity? And what species are those minions anyway? (P.S. For further explanation of the plot, check out this exclusive clip from the movie.)

‘Despicable Me’ Movie Preview

It’s the preview that makes me want to see the film. “IT’S SO BIG AND FLUFFY!” The posters, eh.
when i saw the first trailer i wanted to see the movie because it looked interesting and i like Steve Carell. but when i saw the next trailer with those yellow eggs being mean to one another, it made me never even want to watch the trailer for the movie.
I agree! First trailer looked great, but the second trailer made me completely lose interest.
I am wondering why I’ve heard nothing about this movie while it was in development.
The trailers definitely have me interested in the movie.
Well, they’re doing a promo with IHOP, so that’s something.
Nothing makes me wan to see this bag of crap.
The short tv spots for this movie have been driving me nuts. It’s like the ad campaign for Cloverfield, only for that movie, the mystery was exciting, for this movie it just makes me think everyone was high in the marketing room.
Is it just me or he doesn’t sound like Carell?
i would think it would be about a mysterious group of little yellow creatures dressed in plumbers outfits who are socially outcast and considered despicable even though they are truely nice creatures and throughout the course of the movie, they would redeem themselves to the world and learn a lesson about confidence. but thats just my thinking.
Having seen the film in preview last week, I can honestly say I was pleasantly surprised. The gags in the trailer were cute, but they become much funnier in context. It’s not a Pixar film, but my wife and I actually laughed our butts off at this one. Granted, the ad campaign has been odd from the get go, but expect this one to be a sleeper hit in a slow summer.
Who cares? Another rip you off 3D movie. Predators opens the same day & that looks like the 2nd best movie of this Summer after Inception.
You obviously have not seen Toy Story 3 yet. It’s clearly the best film of the year so far.
No I haven’t but I didn’t include it since it is a cartoon. I know it is the best movie of the year as of now.
Easter?
YES! Exactly what first came to mind. On another note, neither the posters, the trailer nor my love for Steve Carell can convince me to see this movie
Original trailer was funny. The other trailers since then have looked blah. I no longer want to see it.
Dang another movie trying to cash in on 3D. I DON’T CARE ABOUT 3D!!!
Me neither. I took my family to see Toy Story 3 (in 2D since we all get headaches watching 3D)and every freakin’ trailer (except for Secretariat) was for a 3D movie.
I said dart gun not…
