Come August, nerd glasses, star prints, and bustiers underneath blazers will be all the rage — or so Madonna and her daughter, Lourdes, hope. Sketches for the mother and daughter’s Macy’s fashion line were revealed this week, showcasing a line that seems to be piggy-backing on the current, slightly inexplicable 1980s trend. The pieces don’t push the envelope by any means, and they seem to be literally regurgitated from Madonna’s 1980s looks, but it does seem like exactly what we’d expect from the pop queen and her spawn. Plus, the safe fashion options seem like the right choice for such a mass retailer.
The duo’s line, Material Girl, hits floors Aug. 3.
What do you guys think of the line? Would you wear any of it?

It looks awesome, but it also looks kind of like Forever 21, so if they expect designer prices they will be lining the racks of of places like TJ Maxx and Kohls.
Well she’s got the right name for the line at least.
All of this stuff screams “juniors department.” I’d expect about the same quality level and pricing as Macy’s INC line.
Actually, that was her idea. This stuff WILL be sold in Macy’s junior department.
Very cute for young girls. I think it will be a hit.
I know one thing. Madonna and her spawn have my money whether I like it or not. My daughter has been bugging me about this for some time now. She even knew the exact date when the clothes come out.
How old is your daughter, because that sketch looks like it’s for 21+.
I can’t remember a time in the last decade when the 80′s was NOT a trend.
Aren’t we finished with bustiers yet? And to wear them under a blazer…tacky. I hope this line is not meant for anyone under the age of 16 or 17. Young girls are already dressing and looking like 30-somethings.
Rock on Madonna and Lourdes!
i think the line is hit!! we all know that madonna has been an icon in fashion and and music. and we all know that she is a perfectionist.. too.. that is that reason i fallowed her carreer since i was 5 years old. so we know she is not going to put her name on anythign if is not goign to be a hit.. so to all of you haters… can you just keep your negative comments to yourself….
Cute but silly. I’m not a big fan of 80s fashion … kinda hoping it goes away soon.
If you’re afraid of prices and image why don’t you say it. B*tching and compaining about someone elses achievements only reflects immaturity.
I think it lacks originality. There isn’t anything about these three sketches that sets the line aside from anything else that’s available right now. So you can go to Charlotte Russe or H&M and pay a lot less for the exact same thing. Save your money kids.
it fits the american middle class ticket to a “t”.
Nurturing your child’s passions is what Moms do. If Lourdes want to be a designer, a designer she shall be! The renderings are good, i see hint of momma, but you can see some original concepts as well!
