Universal has released another theatrical trailer for July 9′s Despicable Me, the supervillain-oriented animated movie starring Steve Carell, from Ice Age producer Chris Meledandri. Unlike the first trailer (kid bounces off a pyramid), and the second (Carell’s Gru gets repeatedly thwarted by his supervillain archenemy Vector), this one delivers more narration, more of Gru’s vast army of minions, who resemble shelled peanuts (SNL‘s Stefon might call the minions on this movie poster a “non-human bathmat”), and a better glimpse of Gru’s domestic life. Supervillains: They’re just like us! They get annoyed by lines for coffee! They have to deal with small problems (three kids on the doorstep)! They go to ballet recitals! They win stuffed animals at the Games Games Games Games arcade for the little ones! They want to go steal the moon!
The cutest part of that trailer is when the little girl overestimates her desire for a fluffy arcade prize at the end. I also like the “Behind the Scenes 2″ additional video on despicable.me, during which you can see Carell, Jason Segel, Russell Brand, Julie Andrews, iCarly‘s Miranda Cosgrove, Kristen Wiig, Jack McBrayer, and especially gravelly road Will Arnett goofing around in the voice booth.
Excited for Despicable Me, or at least for your kids to learn a new vocab word while school’s out?

This is the first animated film I’ve really wanted to see since “The Incredibles.”
This “third trailer” has been out for some time. Oddly, I’d NEVER seen the “first” trailer. The “second” trailer with the Bill Gates looking bad guy didn’t do anything for me, but this latest trailer makes it look like an entirely different movie. I’m looking forward to it.
The voice cast is insanely awesome (makes me kind of wish they were doing a live action project, but I’ll take it), and the “supervillain who isn’t that bad” premise gives off a faint whiff of “Dr. Horrible.”
I might have to check this out.
I’m not the least bit excited about this film. I’ve seen the trailers and just think it will be a bunch of site gags and stale jokes. I’m not a fan of animated features designed to showcase one star’s talent, rather than simply telling a really good story. A good story could use ANY talented voice actor whose face we’ve never seen.
This doesn’t look very promising but I’ll try to withhold judgment. The fact that it’s by the creators of Ice Age scares me.
The more I see this trailer… the more I want to see this movie.
The best part of this movie is absolutely the minions and the kids. Well, just the kid who asks about the annoying sounds and says the best line of this trailer: “It’s so fluffy I’m gonna die!” “It’s So Fluffy!!!”
It’s so FLUFFY!!!
“It’s so fluffy I’m gonna die!” is definitely going to be incorporated into my everyday lexicon.
I saw a sneak peek of the movie and trust me, it is definitely worth seeing. Best movie I’ve seen in a long time!
I hope this is as good as it looks! Who is the little girl voicing the “It’s so fluffy!” one? It isn’t Miranda Cosgrove, since she showed on Jimmy Fallon last night that she was the glasses wearing one.
I saw a screening a few weeks ago, and it is so hilarious. Not quite HTTYD or Toy Story 3 quality, but it’s pretty close. The youngest girl made me laugh so much.
I also saw a screening and it is a very good movie. Best one i’ve seen in a while! Entertaining, funny and adorable! GO SEE IT!
I have never wanted to see a movie less in my life. The more I see of it, the sheer stupidity of it all is staggering. Shame, too, since the voice actors are great…but omg… it looks SO DUMB
Hope this is better than toy story 2, such a let down
Hasn’t this been out since March? Either way I’m excited for this movie.
I hope this movie fails- just like Barackula Hassan Ovampa
