Channing Tatum and Rachel McAdams to costar in tearjerker (and hopefully share a kiss in the rain)

Rachel-McAdams-and-Channing-TatumChanning Tatum and Rachel McAdams will costar in The Vow, a film based on the heartbreaking but ultimately uplifting true story of newlyweds Kim and Krickitt Carpenter, Variety reports. Allow me to cut-and-paste the description of the book of the same name the Carpenters co-wrote:

“Life as Kim and Krickitt Carpenter knew it was shattered beyond recognition on November 24, 1993, two months after their marriage, when their Ford Escort was hit from behind by a fast-moving truck. A massive head injury left Krickitt in a coma for weeks. When she finally emerged from the coma, she recognized her parents and everyone else — but she didn’t know Kim. She had no idea who he was. The ‘Krickitt’ Kim had married essentially died in the accident. The Vow is the true tale of the reconstruction of two lives and a marriage after an event so shattering that most others would have parted ways long ago. Though it was not easy, and it tested every fiber of who they were, Kim and Krickitt fell in love all over again.”

Thoughts:

1. They might need to change those first names. No offense, Kim and Krickitt.

2. When I saw Dear John, I wrote that Tatum’s lift-and-sit rain kiss with Amanda Seyfried ranked right up there with The Notebook lift-and-carry rain kiss McAdams shared with Ryan Gosling. Is it possible that I willed this pairing into being with a subconscious desire to see a lift-and-drop-and-roll rain kiss? (You’re welcome.)

3. I really do like the idea of McAdams and Tatum pairing for this story. She holds back tears beautifully and believably, and his soft side is always disarming.

What do you think?

#1 was my first thought as well.

    • IMHO

I think it would be more awesome if it was Al and Tipper Gore for the lead roles.

  • ziggy

Sounds great. And those two are gorgeous, so it’s going to look great too.

    “lift-and-drop-and-roll rain kiss”
    Yes, please.

  • Ashley

    Chan and Rach….PERFECT PERFECT PERFECT!!!

I’m sorry but I have to disagree. Channing Tatum is a horrible actor. Cast Ryan Gosling so he and Rachel McAdams will fall in love again. I loved them as a real life couple!

      • Great Actor

Channing is a great actor and the perfect match for Rachel.

This is going to be EPIC whether the critics like it or not.

However, I understand why you feel that way because Dear John fans would like to see Channing with Amanda again, Step Up fans would like to see Channing act again with his wife etc.

I’m so excited for this movie is unreal even the haters will watch.

I’m sorry but I can’t think of one movie he was good in. All he does is play the ‘tough guy” and barely can show any other emotions.

  • Amy

Mandi, you definitely willed this into being. And for that, I will be eternally grateful.

  • DAN

Oh Rachell McAdams..Finally! I love her. it’s never cheesy when she’s the leading lady

Im guessing one dies at the end… Doesnt someone always die is these type of movies? But I’m happy that my baby daddy is in the movie

Can we have Lindsay Lohan instead? She’s the only Mean Girl who hasn’t done a gooey romance/drama movie with kiss-in-the-rain scene? Can we?

    • Dana

It would cost too much to cover up her scram bracelet with tasteful outfits

    • No

Sometime ago, Lindsay was suppose to star with Channing in a movie called ‘Poor Things’ but it didn’t work out.

      • Dana

‘Skanky thing’ would have been more fitting

  • jenna

    ohhh this sounds amazinggg

  • OMG, HELL YES

Chan Tatum gets a Dear John letter, cheats in Cheaters & then takes The Vow.

Man, talk about a smooth operator no wonder women love him.

    Another monster HIT.

  • Angel

Come on Rachel, you can do better than this. Stop starring in these soapy love dramas. The Time Traveller’s Wife flop should tell you something. Please do something with an edge. Your talent is too good to waste on this.

    • Time Traveller’s Wife

TTW was a bad film but actually made money.

This is different and suggest you wait to compare when the film is actually out.

All stars have a hit and a miss in their career anyway, but I sense this is a hit.

  • Jessica

    I love sparks and bigboobshookup

  • elena

Isn’t this like a reverse The Notebook?
I kind of want Channing to do more dance movies, and Rachel to star in more indies. Why so many lady-centric romance movies, hollywood?

  • Melody

Sounds like I’m going to need to bring a box of tissues, but it might just be worth it.

  • hmm

I think R Mc is not a very good actress and that is why she’s always in this schmaltzy stuff. She has a built in audience with the genre who loves her too much to judge her skills effectively.
